My bitch has a sagging milk bar not surprisingly with ten hungry puppies. Once they leave for their new homes, how long is it until the milk bar disappears and she gets her shape back? I know often they are never as tight again but I'm thinking until it is no longer obvious she has had puppies.

some good exercise ie swiming is great and lots of running some girls never go back tight and some look like theyve never had pups!

Yes she loves swimming we can't keep her out of the water, we'll take her to the lakes rather than the forest for a while. I'm just wondering how long it takes for the milk bar to disappear?

once the pups stopp feeding it could take anything from 48h - aweek or so ,but if your girl loves feeding her babies she could keep her milk going till all the pups have gone ive none a girl do this she hated not feeding them so i told the onwer to let the mum feed and mum was happy to give them 1 feed aday till the day they left to go to the new homes...and if your girl was to do this all you need to do is let the new owners know that its best not to let the pups have their vac's for at least a week to 2 weeks cus mum antibodies are still working well and the vaccination want work.

My girl had her litter 10 weeks ago and stopped feeding them at about 5 weeks. She looks wonderful. Unless you knew you could not tell she had even had any pups and that is after a caesarian. Wish I looked as good!

Oh ok, that's nowhere near as long as I expected. I'd thought it might be weeks. We took our bitch for a walk today, first one since having the pups and she's pretty tired now even though it was a short one so she's lost a lot of her fitness. I've since read you shouldn't walk your bitch where other dogs walk as they can walk diseases back to the pups so if that's the case we'll leave it till they have all gone.

Mine had her boobs go back up when the pups stopped feeding completely; since we kept one this was at about 10-12 weeks. She looks like she's never had them apart from her nips being a bit bigger.

My girls pups are nearly 12wks and you'd never know she'd had them...got her figure back perfectly.

Unlike me, 3 yrs later.  Oops. :-)

I walk my girls when they have pups.  After about a month or so and if the bitch wants to come along, then I take them.  We take it easy and go by how the bitch is but normally they want to get back to the pups after half an hour the first couple of times!lol.  Then they realise that they are fine and let go a bit. I think its good for the mentality of the bitch.
Unless you are walking her where a lot of dogs go or round the street, I don't think it'll be too much of a risk.  But if you are worried, you could wipe her down after her walk.  sometimes people get a bit too hygenic.  Pups need to build up an immune system too.  Bit like kids nowadays that don't get to play in the muck!

Mine are often fit to be shown body wise by the time pups are 3 1/2 - 4 months old, but unfortunately won't be back in coat until pups are at least 5 months.

Mine has had one litter of pups over a year ago and still looks like she's feeding a litter!

She's had loads of exercise but her under carriage is still loose and low.

Unfortunately we dont have access to swimming water so can't try that.
