My male dog loves to sniff, but since he's only a medium-size boy and there are lots of bigger dogs around, he can end his walks smelling of (not to mince words) other dogs' wee. With this dry weather, the leaves haven't been washed for too long, so are well covered. When we get home, he has his face wiped & long ears and feet washed with warm water, but his flanks and shoulders are defeating me. I've tried wiping him with warm water and with wet-wipes, both the ones for dogs and the ones for babies/toddlers, but all I get is wet-dog smell on top of the other and when he dries it's only the wet-dog smell which goes away. :-(
Can anyone recommend something which works? I don't want to have to resort to bathing him too often, and would rather not have to restrict him to on-lead walks only (with no sniffing allowed). But he gets really stinky, and transfers the smell to his beds, the carpets, my jeans etc. - all washable of course but makes extra work.
The things I've tried worked pretty well with my last boy, but this lad is defeating me - he's lying on my feet as I type, and is going straight into the bath when I finish.

ooh i think i'll be getting some of that, i have an expert fox poo roller
Cowboy Magic Green Spot Remover :-D I will never be without a bottle in my house nor in my van! Don't need to shower, just a splash of water and a towel/kitchen roll! I was sceptical when a lovely moderator recommended it but I'm entitled to be. It works and that's all that matters ;-) Oh, just to add, urine, fox poo, badger poo, horse poo, cow poo ... a whole host of 'nasties' it gets rid of very nicely :-) Big bonus is it doesn't smell hideous!!

Thank you, I've put in an order for some and look forward to trying it. Now he's had his bath he smells of tea tree and clean dog, I shall look forward to blueberry muffin between baths. :-)
Thank you for this, I'll give it a try too - it'll be interesting to compare it with the Pet Head one suggested by Carrington. See which we get on best with, maybe one in the house and one in the car. :-) Such a lucky dog that he is!

I bought a water free shampoo mousse recently by dogs and co. it's mango and pomegranate and the dogs smell like heaven :)
Only bought it because Rigsby hates being bathed but I like putting it on all of them because they smell scrumptious afterwards.
I'm going to have to buy that pet head one now too and give it a try.

It certainly works! Many thanks to Carrington for the recommendation :-). The blueberry muffin aroma lasts, and is very pleasant, not too strong but "there". And no underlying smell of wet dog (or anything else! lol). Just takes a few spritzes and a wipe over to use. The lad doesn't object, either, although we haven't yet tried it after an application of
eau de Reynard.
I just wanted to say a proper "thank you" for this recommendation. :-) We've been using it for a fortnight now, and it's great! It totally kills the "other dogs' wee" smell, and there's no sticky residue left in his coat, even now we've got rain. We (he) haven't tried it with fox poo yet (I'm sure it's only a matter of time lol!), but he is so much nicer to know now after a walk. Thank you very much.
Very welcome............ wish I'd invented it! :-)
