just had my girl scanned she is 33 days, vet says he can see 2 maybe 3 pups , she is large breed and i do have a few people waiting for pups, my problem is, do i stop advertising this litter, do i feed her less than you would normally feed a bitch with a larger litter , or just treat her like she could be carrying more and hope she had her pups don't put too much weight on,

Don't count on numbers being right, especially not for a vet! One vet told me 1, maybe 2 pups -the bitch had 10. Another vet said 3, maybe 4 (different bitch) -she too had 10.

yes it was a vet , my girl was very stressed and would not keep still, not that she don't like vets but a dog tried to attack her while we were there, thank you for your reply

my vet told us 4 maybe 5 she had 13!! lol  feed her as you would being in whelp thats all you need to do all the best

Very reputable sheep scanner got it 50% wrong with mine.Really not apportioning blame just highlighting potential problem with 'numbers'.

Hi dogs4life we had 50% more in the litter.However the real moral of the story is to use scanning to confirm pregnancy but not to get an 'absolute' on numbers ! We learned from that experience. Good luck.

yes i very nearly did!! but we have also had a scan saying 5 maybe 6 ,she had 3 i sat waiting all night and had her scanned knowing in my heart of hearts she had done so i never go by scans now!
