hi my puppies are 6 days old today, ive noticed that my girls milk dont seem to flow as well as i think it should puppies have put on weight and shes always with them unless im busy then she follows me around shes great with them its just when i have a squeeze of her teats hardly anything comes out should i see loads of milk when i squeeze, (dont do it hard) puppies are not crying seems really happy, just looking for any advice, she do have a softish big lump near her teats but again after gentle rubbing hardly anything, shes not in pain is there anything the vets can give or have any of you had this thanks all
I've always left my bitch to it, I am sure if the pups are gaining weight and feeding then everything is fine. The milk will draw out because of a pups sucking.
I agree that at 6 days my bitches would be reluctant to leave the whelping box. I stay in the room with mine unless they are sound asleep (and then I can keep an eye on them on the CCTV, although I am only in the next room should I need to go back)
shes brillant with the puppies any sound she makes shes in with them im glad she is havin a wander around around. but anyone that goes near the box including me shes there nibbling our hand to move away her mum was the same would come out and wander about and go in when she was needed
My girl was like that too, by the time they were a week old she would be dozing near the box but not in it if I was sitting by the box, but she'd go straight in if they squeaked.
