Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Scanner in Bristol?
- By Eden2 [gb] Date 05.04.12 09:39 UTC
I was wondering if anyone knew of a sheep scanner in the Bristol area or surroundings?
Thanks

I used to go to a lady in Somerset off the A303 (village with a funny name), she was excellent and used her 3 times. She is a sonographer at the local hospital but has her own little scanner at home. Very accurate. If you haven't found a scanner yet PM me and will give you her number.

Thank you very much. Rang a vet in my area to book in for a scan and was told that if i asked too many questions whilst having a scan i would be charged an extra consultation fee! Very Greedy!

Ah yes that's the name of the place, I knew her name and number which I have passed onto Eden2. I looked at google maps but couldn't find it! I knew if I saw the name I would remember it but zoomed in all over the A303 and couldn't see it.
Cath is very good and accurate.

Have to say I chuckled at this - if you want funny names, then Somerset has them all, and most are within reach of the A303 :)

MsT - "Bloody Tent Wood" isn't far from the A303 but not somewhere you would want to put on your camping list is it??!! :)  However, being a Station Caller on some of our old Somerset rail lines would have been a great job once (before Dr Beeching shut them all)...

 Does make you wonder how places get their names doesn't it? But I've always been interested in that, and Britain in general has some classics, not just Somerset. I've always giggled at the river Piddle in Dorset that gave its name to a few towns & villages, which the Victorians in their prudery renamed to Puddle. On a trip to Normandy I did encounter the River Pisse, which proudly displayed its name on a little sign even though it wasn't much more than a medium gush.

I have sometimes dipped into local history on the Web, which now has a lot of Parish records going back to the year dot, some before Domesday, and it's fascinating reading. The Norman conquest really did change things and influenced many of our hamlet/village names.
