Not sure if anyone has any experience with them but if so, does anyone know how long it takes them to register a litter and issue papers in respect of them and then how long an export pedigree takes to issue? Can they issue documents in the meantime saying that they are on the way?

Hi Inka
I live in France and have registered one litter here and am about to register my next one.  Basically it can take forever and if there is a query then double it!!!!  Seriously it can take a long time to go through, I'm not sure if you're waiting for paperwork for a puppy or registering a litter but if the first one you could ask for copies of all the paperwork (and there is quite a lot) already sent.  For example, you register the mating and get a file number, you then register the birth with the number of puppies and have the file number and then you send the form registering the puppies with their chip number and official name and you have a file number.  I gave copies of these documents to the puppy buyers so if they had a query they could contact the SCC with all the details.  One puppy was exported to Switzerland and that Export Pedigree was sent direct to the new owner the SCC phone and asked me for the address.  I have to say I think it took about 6 weeks from the registration being sent to me receiving the "Certificate de Naissance".

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Jan, thanks for your help! I am hoping to import a pup from France and don't want to be pestering the poor breeder with millions and millions of questions so soon. There's plenty of time for that :D

If a litter is registered - or should I say if the paperwork is sent in requesting a litter to be registered - at 6 weeks do you know how long it would be before the export pedigree would issue? I just want to know how soon I can register the pup with my own kennel club essentially!

Also, do you know if the French KC (SCC is it?) have a similar database/website to the UK KC where you can input dogs/find litters etc?

I am quite confused, mainly because the breeds are not mentioned, as follows:

As far as the protection breeds are concerned, certainly in Italy, Austria, Hungary, Germany, Sweden, etc, etc, the breed registration clubs are the ones who register litters, hold & design the fit for purpose breed tests, licence judges, hold the international breed championship show awards and everything else official.

If the national kennel club show wants to judge the breed they have to apply for a licence to the breed club for any judge they chose, only the national breed club can grant the licence. The national kennel club in Germany is only classed as a sort of enthusiastic amature, all breed club by the specific protection breed club. Only the individual protection breed clubs can award the official national breed champion title, in fact & in short, the national breed club has the whole say goes with its breed.

As an example below is the German breed registration club (not my breed), only they have any say in the GSD in Germany providing they conform to their contract aggreement with FCI, so my question is, is there some difference in France? or are people at cross purposes by confusing the non FCI UK Kennel & individual breed clubs standards with Europe, who are members of FCI, with the European norms? OR, are you all talking about dogs which do not fall into any of the 'working groups'?

Hi
I couldn't tell you how long the Export Certificate would take but I would say 4-6 weeks!!  You may be lucky and it will come quicker!  You'll have to let me know if you're lucky or not - of course it also depends on the time of year, in May we have a bank holiday almost every week and August is holiday month, I don't think the SCC closes but very close to it!!!

My breed is Golden Retriever and all registrations are done through the SCC and not the breed club although the breed club do organise the Hip and elbow scoring and keep records of all health tests.

Hope this helps

Jan
