Has anyone heard of a Col-leash?I have read that it is similar to a Halti but it can be used on a puppy and the same one can be used through to adulthood. It is supposed to be gentler on the dog but I have never seen one, so can anyone tell me if they have used one and know where you could buy one. The manufacturers are Alan and Piers Pet Products Soham Cambridgeshire if anyone has heard of them. I read about it in a book but it was originally printed around 1990 so the company might not exist any more.

I know just the item you mean, but sadly have never seen it anywhere. Sorry.

Lindsay - is it similar to the canny collar?, it works like a halti but .... the collar is fitted snug to the dogs neck (like a normal nylon collar) and then the 'nose/muzzle' part runs from the collar (through 'D' rings) and loops on muzzle, like a halti. but the actual lead clips on the back of the neck, so unlike the halti controlling under the chin, the actual control is from behind the head, more like horses rein control, am I confusing or what ? (you dispense with the muzzle bit as the dog learns to heel better) - but if it IS the same sort of thing, I know a company manufacturing them at the Minerver saddlery, they make to order, you have to give a snug neck measurement, and it costs about £16.00 ish - if it is the same , or you have even seen these (canny collar)in action, please let me know (if you dont mind) what you think - I liked the sound of it, but havent seen one in action. Thanks Julie:)

HI Julie

No i haven't seen one in action, :p but I do remember reading about the col-leash and seeing a photo of it in one of John Fisher's books, and funnily enough i was thinking about it for some reason a few days ago, then saw this post!

I have to be honest, I am not sure how it works exaclty but I imagine it must be similar to the canny collar - maybe?! ;) :) :o

Yes, I have heard of the Col-leash and actually own one! It was originally designed by John Fisher who, unfortunately, has since died. It featured in his wonderful book 'Why Does My Dog...?' and was marketed and distributed through his company 'Think Dog Products'
A company called Scampers now markets this product under the name Mikki Walkee but it is the original Col-leash. Scampers can be reached on Tel: 01353 720431.

Hope you get your Col-leash - let me know how you get on!
