Has anyone used nettle tea added to their dogs food?  My elder GSD male has arthritis in his spine and has an unknown allergy to something causing mild itching.  A neighbour has a WWT who had dreadful itching and since she has had added Nettle tea leaves to his food 3 weeks ago, has dramatically improved his quality of life.  I would like to know if anyone else has had success with it.  I've googled it and it appears it should be steeped in hot water but my neighbour sprinkles it dry onto his food. Any advice would be great.
Just for some history, he has had every skin allergy test done all negative, he is fed a 100% raw natural diet, lives with 2 other dogs. Obviously slowing up in his old age but fit and active. He is 10.

Tried nettle tea many years ago on an elderly collie, it had no effect, but never used it dry - maybe worth a try, can't think it would do any harm.
My girl has an itchy spot, quite a few in fact, post-spaying; I have aloe vera plants which I squish up for any of my own skin irritations - I wondered whether to use it or, if she licked at it, might it do harm - anyone tried this?

What meds does your dog get for his arthritis ? I was told some NSAID's can cause itching, one of my friends dogs was always itchy and it turned out to be Previcox that was the cause.

Nettle tea is good and have hidden benefits for dog. It have no side effects. It keep dog healthy and active. I give him tea in a day twice time. I fell it help to burn fat and reduce over weight of my lovely dog.

I drink nettle tea myself when I am feeling ill or run-down (have only used the ready bought teabags so far tho).  After reading this thread I did a little online research and came up with this site       http://www.wildmanstevebrill.com/Plants.Folder/Nettle.html  - has anyone been tempted to try cooking their own yet?  The nutrients in them are quite impressive (you have to scroll down quite a long way to get to that bit)

I made nettle quiche once - can't for the life of me remember what it tasted like but I don't recall it was awful.  Perhaps it was a bit like spinach?

When you look at the price of food it makes real sense to grow your own and utilise what is freely available :)
