Does anyone know if the horrible Timeline layout is a depressing inevitability or is there a way to dodge it? There's a note on my page saying we are doomed and that the new style will be here 03/04/2012. Am I the only one who hates it?

No you're not. It's dreadful and confusing, and conversations are really hard to follow. I've managed to avoid it so far.

I can't see one redeeming feature--it's so bad I feel like getting rid of it altogether. I'v avoided it so far, but this ominous little message has crept in from somewhere. I was hoping there was a way to pull the plug on TL.

Hate it too :(

I have steered clear from it so far & will not alter until I have to!!!

LOL so its a huge thumbs up from everyone, then. Why on earth are they changing it? I've been trying to look it up on line to find out how to get rid of it and the consensus seems to be that all you can do is delete your profile and start over again.

Had it about 6 weeks and I hate it. It's almost as if I'm invisible now !. Loads of friends used to reply and make silly comments on my status but no more. I don't think it's anywhere near as easy to follow what's going on :-(

I don't mind it but then I live on my news feed, and rarely go on my timeline!

snap :) just click home and its all good :) but didn't know how to get there! lol
but I don't mind it at all - I have set up lists so can check what people I want to know what they have been up to....
didn't think I would like it but its ok :)

The problem is people don't like change but will resist change even more if they are not shown the benefits and also how to do it !!

I don't like nor do I understand FB so I don't suppose it will make much difference anyway I will just go on only using it when I have time to waste.
FB has changed so much. Its horrible now. I've joined the other side......Twitter :-). So much easier and uncomplicated

I only joined FB to be able to communicate with our Pugs in the Park group - it was the easiest way to send out group messages about walks and events, then guess what, they changed the group formats and removed that feature! I do use it quite a bit now, and it has been an invaluable tool in organising both the Coat Testing Group and the Canine Alliance. But liek most of the origiaal posters I odn't like Timeline and have no idea how to use it to it's (and my) best advantage. Haven't been forced into it yet, but only a matter of time.

I dont know if this works but i saw this posted & might be worth a try
***TIMELINE*** FOR THOSE WHO HAVE THE TIMELINE PROFILE AND WANT TO GET RID OF IT HERE'S WHAT YOU DO... use GOOGLE CHROME: go to TOOLS, click EXTENSIONS, then click bottom link-MORE EXTENSIONS, type in TIMELINE REMOVE, a post on right of page says-REMOVE TIMELINE? CLICK IT, (YOU DONT HAVE TO LIKE IT) then REFRESH FACEBOOK & you should have the Old FB Wall Back!

*eek* Twitter is still a step too far for me...
Agreed!! The timeline on FB is rather confusing, and for the time being it can be avoided but over-time I think FB will force everyone to have it. I still have the old layout but I get constant reminders to update to the new timeline sooner!!
> Twitter is still a step too far for me...
try it :-) i am a techno phobe and was worried i wouldnt 'get it' but if anything it is easier to pick up and use than FB.

LOL - tried clicking on this and got 'malicious website blocked' !!!! Always knew you were trouble :) :) :)

Yikes! It's only a photobucket pic of my timeline, Meg and Gem are often mischievous, but rarely malicious :-)

Spoken like a true systems engineer :-D :-D

I could see it Jane! lol

I see it too and what a timeline!! Gorgeous!!
I went over to the dark side a while back and to be honest, it doens't really make much difference? I usually just read the news anyway and if someone posts, it comes up on the newsfeed as normal. Don't really see the difference but looks cool.

argggh is all I can say ! so far have avoided having mine go over to the dark side ! but it may be inevitable

What are you all so worried about? I really can't see why you would be worried about it! Get with the program you stick in the muds!lol!! xx

Because it's very difficult to follow conversations, with them bobbing from one side to the other, rather than following each other consecutively.
>Get with the program you stick in the muds!lol!!
I suppose you love books where the pages are out of sequence too?! ;-) ;-)
By cracar

Actually, maybe that is why I find the timeline so easy? I had an out-of-sequence book when I was younger that you had to follow the story by skipping back and forward pages. Seriously, I did. See, my parents were training me for the future! :)

I hardly ever look at my timeline - just use the news feed, so no change at all for me :)

How do I remove stuff I don't want on the likes page? Seems since timeline took over yesterday I've got likes added to my music section I've not put in, tried the edit function but it just lists them all and can't find a way of deleting them grrrr!

I don't like it as I find it too fussy and hard to read details on a person's page. I don't think it's been properly thought out. I HATE it LOL.

Mine goes 'live' tomorrow - eek!!!! I'm starting to like it although I haven't sorted any cover photos yet! I spend most if not all my time on the newsfeed anyway, so it won't affect me too much. I tend to go on my profile only when I post something or wan't to delete something someone else has posted on there - games things! :-D

Dont 'hate' it per se....
But I prefered it how it was, I work on the 'If it 'aint broke, don't fix it' philosophy!
I do [like] the big banner photo you can have though, but do hope they don't tinker with it further.... That's how 'My Space' met it's downfall, people prefered the uncluttered 'grown up' format of FB.
Oh...
just remembered a positive.. I LOVE that you can now comment on a status and then 'unjoin' the conversation, very handy for a status that you don't need to see everyones replies on, but you want to leave a reply and not get 1,000 notifications!! (Birthdays, get well's etc)
Bad habit that I've got from FB though, is that I keep clicking at the bottom of peoples posts on CD in force of habit for the [like] button!! ;-)
> I haven't sorted any cover photos yet
Ooooooh I'm looking forward to seeing a big Frenchie pic C!!!!

Hate it, never liked Face3booik before and now it's worse than ever, confusing as hell.
I am not a big facebooker but what I do like about the timeline is that you can easily go back over the years to see updates. great for going back to look at peoples puppy photos from a couple of years ago and then comparing them to the adult dogs.

I wouldn't even know how, ti all just seems a big mess, made worse by the fact I view in high contrast mode so don't see a lot of the boxes etc.
