I just got a new poodle and I am trying to learn how to groom her.
She is about 5 months old. I have tried brushing her hair forwards
and backwards and I can't get the hair to look like all the poodle
pictures I have seen. her is hair is curly but not particularly frizzy.
In the pictures, it looks they ahve very frizzy poofy hair. Is there a special
procedure for combing that I should know about?

Thanks.

It takes quite a while to learn to trim a poodle and get 'that' look. Bath, then drying that coat carefully making sure it is all dry otherwise it goes frizzy, combing out and trimming from the foot up the leg, never sideways or you will get steps, again always recombing all the time. You need to learn how to clip the face and feet, etc depending on the clip you want. Perhaps you can contact a groomer that would be repared to teach you. Be prepared to be patient. Good luck

What you have to remember is that you have a puppy with a puppy coat which is soft. Poodles change to adult coat from around 10 months and the change can take a long long time. The look you have seen is probably on an adult dog. The coat is harsher and much more dense. Keep up the brushing and combing though as this helps to keep the knots away.

Thank you sooo much! I have been waiting for an answer like that for a while. For a while, I kept thinking she wasn't really a poodle.
