I am hoping to import some semen into the UK to use on one of my bitches. As an assured breeder I know that the stud has to have had the relevant health tests.
The semen I am hoping to import was collected several years ago. When it was collected the stud had current eye tests however the owner has not had his eyes tested recently as he is no longer used due to his age. Will the KC look at the eye tests when the semen was collected or will they want the stud to be tested now so he has an up to date test?

Think you need to ask them as they seem to make decisions on indevidual cases

Yes, that is what anyone would think but it is worth a phone call to check because you never know with the KC who may say a current eye test is needed to make sure no late developing problem is present and I am not sure I would not want that as well.

I have semen from two dogs who have died, when they were around it was very unusual for any health tests to be used so non available. When I joined the ABS at its inception I asked what would happen if I used this semen., was advised it woul dbe acceptable as long as owners given full written info that the mating did not comply with all aspects of current scheme.
