well/do you? i dont! ive made some freinds on here who ive talked to through here and e mail but i wondered if there was ever a big meet up?

we used to organise a huge annual big 'meet' when i was on my breed forum, was great.someone always provided the land to camp out on others stayed in a hotel near everyone provided something usful ect..there were conversations til late some got a bit tipsy but all in all the meets were great fun...gave us all something to look forward to...

just being nosey i think

I know a few and have met a few members and members who have since left CD.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 14.03.12 18:25 UTC
I know several members who are in my own breed, and have met several others at Crufts and other shows.

The majority of CD members I do not know personally, but feel I do as we have been on here for so long.
- By Romside [gb] Date 14.03.12 18:32 UTC
yes i do see that you can build a freindship on a computer from chatting for so long...but until you meet someone you cant know who they really are...im talking about me really,i dont come across very opinionated but thats because by written words its very hard to come across how you really feel and they can be mis-interprited (spell that right?)and show your real point... but meet me in person and you could have a really good debate o your hands lol.

just bein nosey and thought id ask.
- By Goldmali Date 14.03.12 18:38 UTC
You almost always meet up with some at Crufts one way or another, sometimes other shows, and some of those people have become friends. Then there are those you know in your breed anyway, such as in my case Teri and Trevor (Yvonne) as just two examples. In total I think I must have met around 20 people from here in real life over the years.
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 14.03.12 18:59 UTC
Just a few. :-)

>> The majority of CD members I do not know personally, but feel I do as we have been on here for so long

This is so true. We've shared many a life milestone together as a community so those members that I've yet to meet (but fully intend to!) I feel I know better than a lot of my immediate friends I see face to face.

And those CD members that I have met, have become very valued friends. Ive been to see Snowpatrol with LJS, had days out with Monroegirl and Harley, laughed til Ive cried with Missie and H at Crufts and Southern Counties, had posh coffee in london with Lokismum, eaten krispyKreme donuts with Lea and Marianne and ShaynLola at Crufts, Had great advice, laughs and terv Cuddles with teri at Crufts, had chips and cheered and laughed at Maidstone show with Rachsetters and SueJaw, Got drunk with Suejaw,Had Malamute cuddles and a cuppa with Melodysky and lea (again!) worked with Liberty (RIP) and am proud owner of 2 gorrrgeous Selkirk rex cats that came from ChristineW!... the list goes on

I do hate people that always hark back to 'the good old days' but I do think that my strongest friendships forged on CD were those made about 5 years ago and its not because we've all know each other for 5 years+ now but beacuse I do think that those years the Forum was quite different to how it is now.
There really was a real spirit of community, we made and wore 'Champdogs badges' at Crufts (brilliant idea from the much missed much loved Liberty) JustLou never forgot a Birthday and kept a list posting greetings to all members on their day... We really did laugh, cry, fight, flounce off,and forgive... all together. So many great members have moved on and thankfully most of them I see at shows or 'FarceBook' but sad I don't see them here (soo many great advisors lost) Mind you I'm just as guilty life and work gets in the way these days (Darn it!!)
Im such a once in a blue moon poster these days that although I've been a member for nearly 7 years there are members here that have only been members a year and have more posts than me!!?? ;-)
And while I'm on the nostalgia train I'm gonna say it (((( I miss Isabel !!! ))))
But that was then and this is now... and there are alot of great new members who will definitely be on my hitlist to meet up with! Celli brace yourself, next Crufts I'm kidnapping you and your coming! ;-) and Brainless and Vanhalla...you know what I'll be coming to you for soon! ;-) (Ness's fault!)
- By LJS Date 14.03.12 21:34 UTC
Liv just listening to Snow Patrol at the moment and giggling about the 'Andy' moment !

Oh gosh yes the way the forum was in the 'olden' days is different but the friendship and the way you were able to bond is very different now but as all things they move on.

You missed another very special friend and how sad that I only met her at her funeral , Jazzywoo , Michelle . I have an friends together ornament she sent me a few weeks before she died.  She said that what the friendship we had was more than just friends and as the name of the ornament was , stool have the card were sisters by heart . I see that every night before I go to bed as it in the windowsill and I remember her and all that she believed in and it gives me such inspiration .
- By Oldilocks [gb] Date 14.03.12 22:01 UTC
Jazzywoo was an inspiration to us all, God love her!  Yes, the board has changed an awful lot from the 'good old days'.........nothing stays the same though does it?  :)
- By Celli [gb] Date 14.03.12 22:04 UTC
LOL.
I'll get to Crufts one of these days and would love to meet CD'ers in the flesh, and although I can't provide Krispy Kremes, I can bring proper Scottish tablet.
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 14.03.12 22:08 UTC
Ooh, I would LOVE Scottish tablet, please say you'll come on Toy day!! :-D

I have met Merlot (Aileen) and her stunning girls, and met Marianne Goldmali once very briefly about 12 years ago but no-one else so far as I can't get out and about as you all do. Hoping Dogs a Babe gets in touch the next time she's in my village, the lardy cake's on me, ooh arr.

Yes.
- By gwen [gb] Date 15.03.12 19:33 UTC
Dawn R and I know each other, and I think I have met 1 or 2 other people, however, I do seem to know quite a few people who read but don't post, as I get the occasional phone call or email taking issue with what I have written from people are not Cders!

- By Lea Date 16.03.12 10:26 UTC
Oh god where to start, all met through CD!!
MelodySK lives round the corner from my parents so I wave to her driving past me every morning when I go to work LOL
Liv(huskygal) I met at Melodys for coffee, and then again at Crufts.
craigles we have taken to crufts and I have been to hers for the flower parade and used to coach her running.
Goldmali(marianneB) I met at crufts for the first time 2 years ago where we were team Goldmali as Ripley got BOB, along with Craigles, Shaynlola.
Gwen again I met at crufts after I got my Am cocker via her.
Jane we went and stayed with in scotland for the weekend, and dinner with Christinew, met Marion(cant remeber her CD name) at a show, Went to KayC's on the way home and had lunch with her.
Terry(cant remember her CD name) helped her move.
And sorry to anyone I have forgotten :S

And I agree, the best friendships were formed about 5 years, it was more of a comunity back then.
Lea :) :)
- By Dogz Date 16.03.12 10:41 UTC
None of the above :(

But face book friends with some :) and feel friendships are probably good.

If I lived on the mainland and were to frequent any of the shows would certainly 'catch up'.

Karen :)

Sorry Lea, yes of course I know you too!
- By waggamama [gb] Date 16.03.12 19:26 UTC
I know of a couple of people in real life...a couple of months ago I was at Ringcraft and a woman came up to me and said 'If I called you waggamama, would that mean anything to you...?' and I realised she meant she'd known me from here! That was spooky!

A few friends made on here, and a few friends that have joined.
