i took my girl to be mated last week, everything straight forward on both matings but i did find it strange my old boy didn't seem bothered about my girl in season, now a week later he is humping her and she is still flagging, i have been in contact with stud owner hoping he would let me have a 3rd mating, seeing his dog was a maiden and it only takes 5 mins to see if they would mate , but no joy, i have people waiting for pups of my girl , but it looks like they will have to wait another 6 months , from now on i will always bloodtest

I take it she was receptive and they tied?

I hoped to use my own male on my bitch last year but he was not interested in the slightest, so i made the decision to use an outside stud, she had a successful mating and produced a healthy litter. Towards the end of her season my own male went crazy for her- almost like he realised he was missing his chance.

I wouldnt discount her having taken from the mating, bitches arent normally receptive to mating if they are not at peak times...though some can be total hussies...as my girl was!

Don't despair, my girl always gets flirty right at the end of her season. :-)
