Does anyone have any experience of lymphoma treatment? I know there is no cure sadly but not sure what options are best. My nearly 9 year old retriever has aplastic lymphoma with a primary tumour in her nose. She's currently on prednisolone which is controlling her symptoms but my vet is looking into referral. I'm insured with pet plan for 4000 but have spent 1000 on investigations so far. She's still so bright its devastating to think what is going to happen. I'm aware chemotherapy only gives another year if I'm lucky but i feel dreadful if i don't give her every chance. She'll be the first dog I've lost and I'm finding the inevitable hard to accept and want to do whats best for her. I want her to enjoy what she has left, she's still loving her walks and eats well and i want that to last as long as possible.

I lost one of mine at just 6 years to cancer, she too was still full of life but there was no hope using chemo with her type of cancer.
You can use nutrition to (hopefully ) keep her well for longer, but it's by no means a replacement for chemo and may not be effective in all dogs, but perhaps something you might want to look into, to use alongside her chemo.

I also put my girl on a high protein low carb diet, it is well documented that cancer cells utilise carbs better than protein and fat, so a low carb diet can be of benefit.

I would give you a big word of caution though, there are a lot of quack cures out there, if you see something that interests you, Google the item for any actual research that's been done.

My girl was given only weeks to live by the oncologist, her cancer was so aggressive, but she went on to have 7 months of very good health with no symptoms what so ever, until the last week of her life, the oncologist said she'd never seen anything like it.

Cherish your girl every day, and try not to focus on the end, every morning I would say to Celli, yes you have cancer, yes it is going to kill you, but it's not happening today.

my thoughts are with you x

Sadly, been there, done that. I lost my girl to Lymphoma 4 years ago this July, it just seems like yesterday!. I went down the Chemo route, and I have to say, would do it again but it is not for everyone. Please feel free to contact me at any time.
