Topic Dog Boards / General / Vaccination clinics in jolleys petstore
- By japmum [gb] Date 14.03.12 16:00 UTC
Just popped into my local store and saw that they are now offering vaccination clinics on a Friday evening for four hours.

I was flabbergasted when I looked at the price list,

First vaccination £20

Second  Free

Annual booster  £15

Annual booster and kennel cough  £20

Kennel cough  £7.50

All are administered by a vet from the nearby area

I just paid approx £45 for my dogs booster last month and as I have 5 dogs must say that I'm tempted by these prices.

The leaflet I was given says, High  quality vaccines used.

What are your thoughts,do you think this is too good to be true?

Having said that my Dad uses a similar clinic and pays these sort of prices but the difference is that it's in a vets surgery as opposed to a pet superstore

Knowing how much they buy vaccines for, it sounds like a Vet with a conscience to me!  Good for him/her. :)

Will have to see if mine are offering it at any time.  My vets are quite cheap anyway though but not this cheap.  Wonder if it's a long term deal or not?

I wish our one did this!!!!! Checked Jollyes website but it doesn't mention anything other than microchipping for any of their stores.

Just noticed that these clinics are offered by a company called easipetcare and their main clinic is in Reading which is about 20 miles away

Gosh, wish I still lived near a Jollyes, I just paid £85 for a booster and 2 KC vaccines!

Bit of an odd thing to put!  There are only two canine vaccination manufacturers to choose from anyway.  I guess they depended on Joe Public not to know that it's a daft boast to make!

There seem to be loads of different brands, a lot of them US ones with extra components.

I have always been happy with Intervet and Nobivac ones, bur all sorts of others seem to be being used and one US  brand seems to have caused issues with several dogs I know.

Well Barbara, I think I'll stick with tried and tested!  :-)

If the imported cheap and cheerful has not yet been tried and tested over here, I'll play it safe!  :-)

Intervet makes Nobivac Barbara :)

So which is the other well known used in UK brand whose name I can't recall?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 15.03.12 07:11 UTC
Canigen?

That's the one?

The one I would advise any of my puppy owners to avoid is Duramune, though of course my evidence is anecdotal, but to know half a dozen dogs with less to severe reactions to it is enough for me.

My newest puppy was vaccinated with Vanguard
