Topic Dog Boards / General / Line up for BIS please .....
- By snowflake [gb] Date 11.03.12 17:32 UTC
I have hardly watched any of Crufts this week and have missed several of the BOBs (as my husband moans about me hogging the telly.)  So please can someone just tell me the line up for tonight's Best in Show?  I have googled unsuccessfully and flicked though posts here but would like to know before sittng down to watch it later.  I did see the Old English Sheepdog win the Pastoral though.

Thanks ever so

So quite a lot of hair in the ring for BIS then!
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 11.03.12 20:57 UTC
It certainly was!! Feeling smug at having picked both BIS and RBIS correctly this year!
- By georgepig [gb] Date 11.03.12 21:00 UTC
Oh m goodness I didn't realise borzois were that big!!

lol... he's not big for a borzoi ;-)

I really liked the borzoi of course, and I think it's only the 3rd time one has won the group at Crufts, I was there to watch the other two, but I'm kindoff glad he didn't win BIS as they're not ideal pets for everyone and a population explosion wouldn't do them any good :-)

Better not say that too loudly in LJS's earshot.

I am politely ignoring it ;-)

Similar to poodles anyway, to my untutored eye, not seeing many IWS around. But that's not a bad thing! I did honestly think he had a good chance - I initially picked the Lhasa and Newfie, but while watching the judge and where he was looking, thought that it might have been between Merlin and the Newfie. I bet if we had BIS3 like in Europe he'd have got it! Amazing result anyway. :-)

Don't worry I have had several conversations about them looking like poodles and everybody is entitled to their opinions I just don't agree !! :-D

They are the clowns of the gun dog group and as poodles are clowns, I image it could be said they are the poodles of the gun dog group!

I believe poodles were originally gundogs anyway ...

Yes, water retrievers I think, so they probably looked a lot more like IWS than they do now!
- By ChristineW Date 12.03.12 23:06 UTC
The way they are sculpting IWS coats I think they are in danger of looking more like Poodles.

IRS have fantastic personalities, I know a lovely one who has made me fall in love with the breed.. keeping an eye open as i'd love to add one in the future :)
