Hi
My girl was mated last January 11 and 14. And well, she did get morning sickness and her ribs were a bit wider during the first 4 weeks of "pregnancy."
Come palpation, vet said he felt nothing and so, we should not get our hopes up. But he said he'll be back by week 7 to confirm, so we took care of my girl as though she were pregnant.
Week 7 came, she hardly grew. Her breasts weren't enlarging. Her vulva seems the same. She was zipping about, playing and all. Vet again felt nothing in her tummy. No movement. We sort of accepted that she was not pregnant.
Today though, is day 60 from her first mating and I noticed she was leaking clear slimy thick fluid. It was stringing down for a bit. I wiped it off and went wondering, could she be in fact pregnant? SHe still has no mammary development. Her second pair of nipples are a bit bigger but her other 8 are not. To think the back pairs typically are the most engorged in pregnant dogs.
Hoping for feedback.
Thanks
too late now but would have had her scanned at5/6 weeks anyway
but keep your eye on her anyway for the next 8 days or so would it be her first litter ?
Maybe consider getting her x rayed as she may have a singleton in there
Might even be worth a scan, My bitch was scanned during labour and even I could make out 2 puppy sceletons still in there. I know lots of bitches have phantoms but not sure if it goes as far as losing plug??? I'm sure some of the experienced breeders on here will be along with better advice for you soon.

Regarding nipple change..there normally isn't much change only like a pinking up and perking...milk is let down when the babies suckle..and as a first puppy is born I get that puppy sucking ASAP as it stimulates contractions to get further puppies on the move...
as you are unsure if it were me I'd have had her scanned rather than have a vet have a good feel..some bitches carry puppies do high in their tuck up ud never know! Large breed medium small??
The fluid and string I would almost certainly say is a plug...but then there could be other explanations! But I would say plug in this instance...can u get your hands on a stethoscope?? Hav a good listen failing that and you really want to know do an x ray it's the only way to get a positive result and possible numbers
Good luck keep us posted.

Hi
Yup, keeping an eye on her. I stay by her side when I'm home. When I'm at work, the dog sitter stays by her side as they are also great friends.
Kindly asking if first litters usually have harder-to-tell pregnancies.

Hi,
I don't think it is a plug, more like the typical vaginal discharge. It wasn't that much, just that instance when it was a string falling down. But the rest of the discharge were just her vulva being moist all through-out the day. Or I could be wrong.
She's day 61 based on her 1st breeding and 58 based on her 2nd.
She's a large breed. They do not show as much, correct?

All bitches are different is all I can say..I can't be of much more help sorry..
If u mean large breeds show less puppies then yea it's possible but not always or mostly I'd have to say no!
Ull probably get someone far more experienced on here to give u a better idea later.hope she's well.x
Hi guys
Tomorrow will be day 63 if counted on her second breeding, which the breeder said was the better tie than the first mating wherein she was still having a slight red discharge vs the straw ideal discharge.
Again as said my vet said she seems not pregnant, with him palpating him at different times and with no nipple growth and no abdominal growth. She did grow a bit in terms of filling out but that may be attributed to me adding eggs and peanut butter to her food.
Well she did get again, morning sickness at week 3-4.
As I said, 6 days ago she had 1 clear mucus discharge string so I told my vet this. He said that I have to keep an eye in case she's carrying high or has a small litter--so not much outward pregnancy symptoms.
Well yesterday she again had a bit of discharge, more of creamy brown, the color of oatmeal. I've been taking her temp this week and they are still pretty high. You guys think she IS pregnant or not? I'm ready for the puppies but just wanna know if I should expect.
did she turn out to be pregnant?
