My 11 month old bitch is having her first season,I'm a bit concerned about her,quite alot of blood,and her private parts,they are so swollen,my other bitch never got as swollen as her,but I didnt have her as a youngster,and missed her first few seasons.Apart from that she is fine,her usual self,it doesn't seem to be bothering her much,thanks.

they vary greatly.  I looked after my friends bitch when she had her first season and she was huge, looked like a baboon and was very uncomfortable.  I have had her here in season since and she was not as swollen.

Some of mine have barely swollen, yet had no problem mating or whelping, and have been very tidy behind.
