After visiting crufts today picked up a load of catalogues and info sheets, I picked quite a few which were advertising dog grooming courses.
Starting to think this course would be very interesting with the hope of becoming a professional groomer, some offer City and Guilds qualification level 3 included other don't.
Same with some offering starter grooming kits others not.
Just wondering what course would be better to complete?
Also looking at course providers so if anyone knows of any that are good  (so many to choose from after a quick google search) , it would be appreciated (ideally looking for midlands/wales/southernish, currently living in the west mids)  :)

My suggestion is The Grooming Room at Charney Kennels, just outside Oxford.  It used to be called The Oxford Grooming School when I worked there.  The training is excellent and the cost very reasonable considering the standard that is taught.

I have recommended it many times and everyone that has gone has been pleased.  One lady who had actually completed a year's course at her local college said that she'd learned more on her taster day that she'd learned in the previous 12 months!

Apart from that I would seriously suggest that you go to a grooming training school rather than your local college that teaches grooming, where ever that may be.  I have yet to hear of one that teaches a reasonable standard of grooming as well as give the necessary backup when you do start on your own. :(

I approached a local salon that had just opened, and she agreed I could apprentice there; I go down at least once a week and have been for the past 6 months or so, learnt so much in a working salon from customers to difficult dogs to business tips; it's so much fun, but it's EXHAUSTING. Honestly I go home with my back aching, tired from spending 8 hours on my feet, but so happy; true satisfaction, and I'm finally ready to say 'Yes, I'll do that dog by myself today.' confidently, no matter what the breed, temper, or coat state. Go for it, it's the best job!

looking more and more into it, looks like its my dream job, whats better than spending your work days with lots of dogs :)

Hahaha, it is the best job, it can be really hard work when most of the dogs hate being groomed, and some are just complete clip offs, but when you get a dog that's lovely and will let you style it nicely it's sooo worth it.

I second charney, shes a good friend and what she doesnt know isnt worth knowing and her daughter is the same. we joke that if i win its when i gewt her to do the feet lol.
