Topic Dog Boards / General / CRUFTS - Who's going?

Was surprised not to see this thread yet! The time is nearly upon us :) (so very, very excited)

So who's going to be at Crufts this year and with which lovely dogs? (so we can try and spot you all to cheer you on!)

I'm going for Toy and Utility and Working and Pastoral to watch, shop and cuddle :)
- By weim1 [gb] Date 05.03.12 10:04 UTC
Im going to the toy on the thursday, never been before, just to watch and buy and have a great day.
- By AlisonGold [gb] Date 05.03.12 10:08 UTC
I'm there on Friday (Gundog day) with 3 of mine.
- By Alysce [gb] Date 05.03.12 10:09 UTC
Yet again I'm unable to bring my girl along!  You wouldn't believe how accurate they are with their seasons when it comes to Crufts!!  Really disappointing :-(
- By Astarte Date 05.03.12 10:13 UTC
aww what a shame :(

still, good for you not going. i know a few people who go in spite of it and i think it's terribly unfair to the other dogs/exhibitors.
- By Alysce [gb] Date 05.03.12 10:18 UTC
Thank you Astarte - I do agree with you that it's unfair to others.   I also think it's probably not that great for my bitch either.  It's not so much the cost of the entry fee etc that bothers me.  More that I was really looking foward to it and although I've qualified a couple of my bitches on a few occasions, I've never yet actually managed to get them in the ring!!
- By Astarte Date 05.03.12 10:25 UTC
:( thats such a shame. maybe she'll be early or late next year :)

Im taking 2 champion bitches, 1 grand dame in veteran and one puppy bitch...... so that should keep me out of mischief!

...and her brother, I'm sure, will appreciate the lack of distraction (being benched right next door!!).  Although we're really sorry that you aren't coming Alysce - such a shame she came into season right now

I'll be there on Friday :)
- By Jeff (Moderator) Date 05.03.12 11:10 UTC
Thursday with an Akita, Friday on Discover Dogs with TMs and Saturday in the ring with the TMs.
Sunday very lazy day!
- By flattiemum [gb] Date 05.03.12 11:19 UTC
Friday with my two youngsters, should be fun. Used to taking 1 well behaved gentleman not the terrible twins as I call them, no relation and a two year age gap but they don't know that!!!
Junior Flattie then Gamekeepers classes.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 05.03.12 11:23 UTC
I'm going on Thursday with Daisy, and I'm hyperventilating already! If we get out of the ring without making too much of an exhibiton of ourselves then I'll be pleased!
- By vinya Date 05.03.12 11:26 UTC
I know the feeling Alysce, my bitch has also come in to season. and i feel very disapointed that she wont be in the ring. I am going Dog-less this year now. but i will still try and enjoy the day . I would never take a bitch in heat to a show. my girl looks a right state with her pants on and hair sheding everywhere.lol  pluss shes not her self when shes on heat. its not fair on her or other dogs to take a bitch on heat to a show. but I will be shoping and spending money i dont have :)
- By CVL Date 05.03.12 11:29 UTC
I'm going with Eddie (Lab), it's my first time showing at Crufts - I'm feeling very nervous!
- By Cava14Una Date 05.03.12 11:56 UTC
Was meant to be going but just recovering from chest infection so being sensible. Have fun and good luck to those spectating showing and displaying :-D
- By Staff [gb] Date 05.03.12 11:58 UTC
I'm going on Saturday for the working day, however not showing any of mine this year.  I prefer going to Crufts to watch the judging and having a good look around...can't wait!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 05.03.12 12:09 UTC Edited 05.03.12 12:11 UTC
I'm going (Sunday) with just the one of the dogs entered, as traitorous Inka came in season on Saturday two months late.
- By Merlot [gb] Date 05.03.12 12:11 UTC
I shall be there on Sat with 2 of mine, Merlot in Veteran and the mad pup in Yearling and GCB although the youngster is due in season in a couple of weeks and is very short of coat :-( .
Going up on Friday and staying in a hotel overnight for a nice relaxed start to the day on Sat.
Taking my good friend and dog sitter to help out so should be a nice day catching up with friends and having a yarn !
Good luck to everyone who is competing, and remember you will ALWAYS take the best dogs home :-) Have a great day, enjoy and shop till you drop !

- By AlisonGold [gb] Date 05.03.12 12:34 UTC
I'm going with Eddie (Lab), it's my first time showing at Crufts - I'm feeling very nervous!

Don't forget it is only another Champ show!!  Enjoy
- By CVL Date 05.03.12 13:27 UTC
Thanks! I feel nervous about any show - I am a giant wuss, but I know Eddie will love every second of it :-D
- By LJS Date 05.03.12 13:52 UTC
Yes going on Friday and it will be to start to talk to a few breeders to discuss about a potential new addition.
- By Toller [gb] Date 05.03.12 13:53 UTC
I'll be there friday with Chester in veteran, Ember in limit, Tilly in good citizen, plus showing Ember's brother in post grad.

and then on Saturday I'm there with Tilly in the special pre-beginner obedience stakes final :D
- By CVL Date 05.03.12 13:56 UTC
Is that potential new addition going to be a Lab Lucy!?  I'm excited for you :-)
- By rachelsetters Date 05.03.12 13:58 UTC
Am there on Gundog day (Friday) with the two boys - Bentley Boo in jnr, ylg and Good Citizen - he will be handled by Jess in the breed ring (she is so much better with him than I am!) but its her first time in the breed at Crufts - she is excitedly nervous ! and I will be showing Connor in Limit and Good Citizen - I'm just nervous!  Connor is also there for Jess in the YKC handling 12-16 where I will again be trying to contain my nerves for Jess - she'll be fine and Connor won't let her down but its so hard watching - there are some excellent much older handlers in this age group.

Hoping to see Goldmali on the DD stand and Lisa with Tangle on DD too....

>Yes going on Friday and it will be to start to talk to a few breeders to discuss about a potential new addition.

oh you must be so excited Lucy :) if you are near the Gordon hall in the morning or YKC in the afternoon and you see me biting my nails come say hello!
- By LJS Date 05.03.12 14:06 UTC
We are not sure yet as even though I have had Labs for over twenty years I am really drawn to an IWS but we shall see.
- By LJS Date 05.03.12 14:07 UTC
Yes already had you on my list of people to see and hope Ken is ready to be quizzed !
- By klb [no] Date 05.03.12 14:16 UTC
Me and the kids are being Discovered on DD all day Friday, and Rio will be strutting her stuff with Louis in the junior handling ring in the afternoon as well.

- By ridgielover Date 05.03.12 15:09 UTC
I was hoping to go along on both Saturday and Sunday but will probably not make it now. But for a good reason - I've got my super new puppy to look after :)
- By japmum [gb] Date 05.03.12 15:14 UTC
Will be there with my jap chin Harry on Thursday. He is in jnr and good ctz.

Didn't take him agility training today as it is sooo windy and daren't risk him getting an injury with days to go!
- By pavlova [gb] Date 05.03.12 15:31 UTC
I wish I was going but theres no one from my neck of the woods going on working or pastoral day and I,m not brave enough to go on my own would have to be train as I dont drive.
Good luck everyone and remember you all have the best dog to bring home but the very best is sat here with me .Ha ha x
- By kazz Date 05.03.12 16:30 UTC
I am going on Saturday maybe Friday too not sure yet. Not showing just visiting. Best of Luck to everyone
- By suejaw Date 05.03.12 17:21 UTC
Oh go on your own Pavlova, it's all good fun, I got the train once when just there watching.

I'll be there on the Saturday for W&P breeds. I'll prob be done and dusted exhibiting by the time most of the public get in , 08.30 start, puppy bitch in the Rottweiler ring :-)

I'm lucky to have a good friend in Rachelsetters who is looking after my Bernese for me :-D
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 05.03.12 17:35 UTC
Eddie will enjoy a big ring! You will be fine :-)
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 05.03.12 17:38 UTC
Bean and I will be there on Friday, I'm really looking forward to it with just one dog to focus on...lord knows how some of you manage 3!!!
- By Goldiemad [gb] Date 05.03.12 17:41 UTC

- By RootyTooty [gb] Date 05.03.12 17:50 UTC
Looking forward to going on Saturday with hubby -  but won't be showing him!
- By roscoebabe [gb] Date 05.03.12 18:11 UTC
I'm going Saturday with my daughter-in-law and my granddaughter. I might go on sunday as well to watch the Borzoi judging if one of my sons will come look after my lot.
- By biffsmum [gb] Date 05.03.12 18:11 UTC
Will be there on Saturday with Stanley. Taking my two daughters and their friend, so lots of helpers to carry everything. Looking forward to meeting up with my friends as haven't been showing very much since June last year.
- By tina s [gb] Date 05.03.12 18:55 UTC
im going thurs to watch and shop
just a note for those who came into season, i used to give mine the injection and season was over in 4/5 days with no ill effects or false preggies and always came back on 6 months later
- By ShaynLola Date 05.03.12 19:18 UTC
Pavlova, don't let going alone put you off!  It's a lovely day out, even on your own.

I'm in N. Ireland so I usually fly over for the day.  Treat myself to a nice coffee and a croissant at the airport and a magazine for the flight.  Have a wander around Discover Dogs and the trade stands.  Check out my breed ring and the others that I'm interested in (always bump into a few people that I know from home) and then meet up with some of the lovely CD lot in the afternoon...a perfect day out :)  I can't go this year for various reasons and I'm quite gutted to be missing out.
- By donnabl [gb] Date 05.03.12 20:43 UTC
Glad to know that I won't be the only worried parent whilst the children are in the ring.  I think it's much worse watching!
We will be there on the Friday.  Tasha has Trio in the YKC obedience and handling (6-11yrs).  Haven't entered the LM classes as this would clash, and then have Tilly the toller in the NSDTR classes.  So a busy day, and fingers crossed that classes don't clash!
- By Astarte Date 05.03.12 21:22 UTC

> Anyone who wants Komondor cuddles is more than welcome to visit us, we will be on DD stand P19

i'll take that offer up :)
- By Lacy Date 05.03.12 21:24 UTC
Have never been but would love to go on Hound day, perhaps next year. So to all of you going, have a wonderful time & good luck.
- By JeanSW Date 05.03.12 22:08 UTC
Well, I'm not showing, but I love spending money on the dogs!  I haven't missed a Pastoral day for years, but I have opted for Toy and Utility this year.  I've stopped going on more than one day, as I spend hundreds!
