Can any one tell me what sort of cleaner to use to get lots of smoke off walls and ceilings?
I've been offered a rental property free for several months then a reasonable rent once the house is decorated.

The last tenant fell asleep and the wood burner smoked out much of the downstairs. The walls and ceiling are a mess. No scorch or fire damage.

I've been reading some sites and they say you need a particular kind of soap/cleaning agent but not sure exactly what I'm looking for. I want to get cleaning this weekend so advice would be super.

Thanks
J

I may be wrong but i think it could be 'sugar soap' you are after. I have used it in the past and it's pretty good stuff. It's good for preping walls & ceilings before painting.

yep - I would go with sugar soap too.  You can buy spray bottles of ready made, but it is a lot cheaper to buy the stuff that you dilute yourself.  It does get loads of muck off.  I got my last lot from B&Q.
