Has anyone used the ovulation detector strips and did they work?  Where did you get them from?

i got mine from ebay didnt find them that good to be honest, drove me mad checking and proding all the time
they were £6 for 10 strips so not dear might be worth a go for you
mated my girl day 12 and she has been confirmed pregnant with 3-4 pups

Yes, have used them, and like the majority on CD found them useless.  If you do decide to buy, be careful of scratching the bitches vulva, as they can be quite sharp.  I, personally, would not bother with them again.  I would blood test and get it right!

I used them and found them a complete waste of time and money. The most accurate way to detect ovulation is to use the quantitative progesterone test that labs such Idexx do, obviously more expensive initially but not as expensive as paying your stud fee and a bitch missing.

Tried them years ago, total waste of time and money, also extremely sharp edges.

Yep, I too tried them, total waste of time. However, I do have a breeder friend who had mated her bitch a few times but failed to have pups, she tried them ... found the bitch ovulated much earlier than anticipated, and only found this out due to the ovulation pads. Bitch mated and pups produced.

I wont bother with them again, I shall rely on nature ... ie my boys :-)

The strips also seem to go 'off' relatively quickly!

I used them because I was in another country, and the sire's owner/breeder doesn't use progesterone testing so couldn't recommend a good vet/company to do it.  I figured using them in addition to letting the dogs be together was at least something.

The corners are sharp (someone else said they snip the corners first - should have thought of that) but aside from that very easy to do, and I got the colour change about the same time as other signs suggested she was ovulating.  Got 7 puppies from two matings starting 2 days after the colour change.

I don't know that I would use them if I were breeding to a stud from here - I'd likely do progesterone testing if anything, but being so far away from home I wanted a double check.  Having said that they were correct.
