anyone have any advice to the best day ?

28 days is the average I think.  I have large breed dogs so not sure if the same applies but my vet is willing to scan at 23 days.  Managed last time to pick up heart beats on the scan at this stage too :)
I think some people like to wait longer as bitches can still reabsorb after this time.
Good luck

My vet wants more than 30 days.

my  scanner likes to see them at 28-30 days from last mating for best results.

The scanner I like to use (now sadly about 200 miles from me) likes them at about 3.5 weeks (for the best chance of giving number of puppies as she sees them on the day) but know some other scanners say 4 weeks. Depends if you just want confirmation that she is pregnant or looking for some idea of numbers (bearing in mind other things can happen b/w scanning and giving birth so no guarantees that the number will stay the same).

If you are unsure of the vets ability then I would say get one done at 5 weeks. Even I can regcognise them by then :)

I have only bred twice, last year and in 1998 but used the same scanner for both. I did it for my own of peace of mind as I am a terrible worrier lol. The scanner was so good she told me (accurate) numbers both times and told me with the first litter that they would come a couple of days early and they did.
