Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Breeder stakes at Crufts
- By Star [gb] Date 16.01.03 14:07 UTC
If some one is judging at Crufts in their breed, would they still be allowed to take part in the breeders stakes if they had qualified. I e mailed KC a couple of days ago but as yet have no reply. (they probably don't know either) Any thoughts?

Hi Star, I agree with Dizzy, I own a couple of dogs in partnership with a well known judge, and I'm not allowed to enter them at shows that he is judging at. That includes times when he's judging another breed, even on a different day. The dogs live exclusively with me and the partnership is in name only, but rules are rules. Breeder Stakes entries are made in the name of the breeder, therefor exhibiting and judging at the same show!!! Not allowed, I'm afraid.

Thats what I thought. Its hypothetical really. A friend of ours is judging 2004 but she has qualified for 2003 and we were wondering if she had been judging this year.
thanks

Is that definate though, because although held at Crufts, it is not really organised by the Kennel Club, but Pedigree. YOu dont enter on the Crufts form, and it is really a seperate event to the show. You qualify elsewhere for it and then invited attend the final at Crufts.

Like you said, I know that you can not exhibit if the dog is in a judges name (even in partnership) but this is slightly different.

Did you get a reply to your question yet Sue?

No, despite e mailing the KC 4 times. (twice to the Crufts contact and twice to the Show/awards dept.) I spoke to someone at the KC stand atManchester who said she thought you were unable to but if it is so straightforward i cannot understand why KC have not replied. When I have e mailed them on other issues i have had a reply almost straight away!
