Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Season after litter?
- By waggamama [gb] Date 27.02.12 18:01 UTC
My bitch was due to come into season this month, but had her litter at the end of October. Does anyone know if this can cause them to have 'funny' seasons afterwards?

Mine usually go 4-6 weeks later than usuall after a litter. :-)

My girl came in 17 weeks[28 weeks from the start of the season she got pregnant]after each of her 2 litters and she normally goes 7 or 8 months between.

Thanks so much, glad this is normal then! Will her seasons now be pushed back, then?

Lois continued her 7-8 month gap as all my girls came in together, led latterly by her daughter Lexis.

I am waiting to see if my new girl Maisie and Lexis will season together as the only bitches here now.

My bitch whelped the same day as yours, and I would expect her in season this week if she was a normal 6 month cycle bitch.  Fortunately she isn't, and she is going in on Thursday to be spayed.  She normally goes 8 months or so, and I already know that I want to retire her from breeding.
