I really can't believe how out temps have done an about turn in such a short space of time. Yesterday I busted a friend who lives neat Ashdown Forest and at 3pm when I left it was showing 18degrees outside, it was a lot warmer a few hours earlier too. It was only last week I was so cold I couldn't warm up...
What's busted? I was out in the garden yesterday pruning ( probably wrong time of year but that's me!) and clearing leaves, could have done without the help of 3 dogs but they were full of bounce. I got quite warm with all my bending and stretching! The nice weather makes it tougher when the cold returns, it's odd, isn't it?
Really mild here too, I can't remember such a mild winter before, we didn't get much snow either and we always get snow. At least it's meant I haven't had to go out and shovel little paths for the hens to get about on, they really hate the snow.
It was beautiful here yesterday morning when I took my dogs out, the birds were singing, the sky was blue and there was even a frog sunning itself on the edge of the path. It's turned wet again in the afternoon and today, it's not cold at all though. Can't wait for the clocks to change in a few weeks, soooo looking forward to some extra evening light.
You can all thank me!! It's ever since I ordered a new winter coat!! The sun has come out!! I gave in and ordereda huge fishermans jacket and lo and beholdrain stoppped and sun appeared. Will be ordering the matching pants midweek so get your bikinis at the ready!!
The papers say it is going to be in the 80's F next month !!!!!!
It was much colder here today and when I left my Mums it was chucking it down with rain, Maizie arrived home with a wet gritty under carriage, the golfing brolly kept the top fairly dry.
I got so fed up with the wet muddy undercarriage (and thick fluffy bum-curtains that act like a sponge) that I gave up looking for anything to prevent it, and instead found a towelling full-body drying off coat 2nd hand on Ebay.
Ok so my dog looks peculiar in pink, and he's a bit unsure about wearing it, but it does the job and keeps all that wet and mud off the carpets and furniture.
I am sure they do Rhodach, this was apparently made to measure for a (female!) Lab, but it fits my rufty tufty all-terrain dog quite well, to his disgust, just a little short on the legs which I could alter, tho it covers his leg feathering as is.
Makers label is inside it, Forest Fleece, looked up their website and it would have cost £42 new
Much less for yours I am sure, and you can choose fleece rather than towelling.
