I finally got her on the treadmill- which works great if I am at one end with the treats in my hand- hook a
leash to her and not so good. I want her to be able to go on it without needing treats- but not sure how to go about that.
The Boston's no problem I can grab their collar and say lets go and on they go and walk at a good pace. Her
if I grab collar or try to leash her to the treadmill she puts on the brakes.

I figure when I am done doing my treadmill work out I would like to put her on while I finish
the rest of my exercises. Just a nice paced walk I have it set at.
Its a great way to exercise her when it is very miserable outside.

What's the point of a treadmill when you can go out for fresh air and vitamin D ?
A walk isn't just about physical exercise, it is about giving your dog exciting things to look at and smell, to exercise the brain and be sociable.

I thoroughly agree with St, D, a dog needs mental stimulation. Their walk is the best time of the day for every dog I have ever known. Treadmill exercise is just a
cop-out. I would like to see treadmills banned except for veterinary advised physiotherapy. I certainly don't think that the K.C. should allow their sale at Crufts where so many members of the general public may see it as a suitable way to exercise the dog.

I absolutely agree with the others. There's a lot more to a walk for a dog than mere exercise, and there is no such thing as "miserable outside" to a dog looking forward to the highlight of its day--A WALK!!

I think we have to bear in mind that Dollface lives in Canada where the weather is likely to be far more difficult at times that here in the UK for getting out and about but otherwise would agree that this is no substitute for a real walk if at all possible.

If you read my post it was for during my own routine exercise- not to be taken away from her normal outside exercise.

But yes when the weather is down right freezing outside and snow piled up to who no's where, then my dogs can still be
safely exercised in doors and still get the exercise they need.

We live by the city park- not to far of a walk- but at her age it is so its a little drive- which my hubby and I love to walk
around all the time- something we look forward to doing. Right now its a drive to the park and only
20 min walks for her for now- next month I can up to 25 a min so. Plus she is getting great socialization
with people and other dogs.

The treadmill is not to replace our normal outing but is nice to have on very miserable day.
