Contuining with my search for an indestructable dog bed i think i might've finally found one that's going to defeat my problem chewer (if i bolt it into the floor)

Has anyone bought & used one of these?

Yes I have at least 7 of them here. They are brilliant. I have quite destructive dogs when it comes to beds but they have failed to destroy these. Wouldn't be without then :)

Could you tell me a bit more about the material in the middle and the quality of the bed?
Would it sag or dip with a giant breed dog on it (70kg+) or is it really taught and firm and well secured to the frame?
How resistant is the fabric to scratching/digging (i.e could a strong dogs nails rip through it)?

I bought a coolaroo, which looks the same as in the pic, but absolutely none of mine (10 collies) would go on it. Think it just didn't feel solid enough under their paws even though the material is stretched very tight, also made a funny sound if they dared to step on it so I gave it away in the end.

How about one of these as a slightly cheaper option, and could be made to your exact requirements.

I've got an xxl one from Kuranda with an aluminium frame. Two of my Ridgies regularly share it - combined weight approx 80 kg and it's fine. They have been quite destructive with beds but so far (fingers crossed!) this one has been fine and my lad is a digger!

When I bought a bed of this style and put it up in the living room, my BSD/BC cross left the room and wouldn't come in again!

Eventually he did, so while I was sitting watching TV I started clicking him for going near it, also throwing treats on it and clicking for any positive move towards it. He also does "go touch" so we did a bit of that too. He will also put his front paw/s "On" something if asked, so once he was more comfortable with it, I had him do "On" and using luring soon had both front feet on the bed. Bit more luring and he got on completely, so I asked him to down-stay, though he didn't look pleased, and showered him with treats. And repeated. All that took only 15 mins!

The bed is now in my bedroom and although he is a dog that moves around a lot at night, I know he spends some time sleeping on it every night, as it makes a distinctive sound when he gets on it.

The material is very strong and does resist digging. I have one dog who regularly digs and digs on it. It is securely fixed to the frame poles by threading it in before assembly and it does hold well. Also I have noticed no sagging. I just hose them down, prop them up to dry and they are ready again.
My dogs weigh around 35k and they do them fine. Make sure you get the right size, I like bigger than neccessary but they are expensive. Maybe try the one and order more if you like it but I wouldn't be without them. As I said I have 7 of them which is a fair cash outlay and I wouldn't have done that unless I was really pleased with them.

Do you have the aluminium ones, Rocknrose? My only gripe is that the legs come off when I move it around - do you have that problem? I keep meaning to give Kuranda a buzz and ask if they should be fixed in place with screws or something, but only ever remember outside "office" hours

No I have the plastic ones and the legs fit really good. Got to admit when I am cleaning out I do chuck the beds around  lot on concrete and they have never come apart in any way. I've never had an aluminium one so I don't know but the plastic ones are certainly not fixed with screws, you just shove them in when assembling :)

I like the look of the Messano ones, their held together using an alan key which is supplied, like that they can do made to measure as I wouldn't need one as big as the smallest one advertised even for all mine to sleep on as they sleep in a pile regardless of how big an area of bed is available.
