Hi everyone can someone tell me there thoughts on how long to leave my girl after her due date thank you

It depends on many factors, so discuss it with your vet. Is she overdue now?

One of the factors for me would be breed.  I wouldn't let mine go ONE day over.

sunday is her due date dont think i am allowed to say what breed she is but things are playing on my mind my girl was the only pup in a litter 3 years ago all the other pups was dead and i really worry this time

If you are that worried, wouldn't it be sensible to ask your vet to check your girl over?  Even if it is only to put your mind at ease.  Are her pups moving ok at the moment?

Hi Molly, my girl was due yesterday too, she's not showing any signs, other than looking a bit uncomfortable every time she gets up & is quiet & sleeping more.  Normally this breed is a couple of days early.  Spoke to my vet today & she said 5 days, but also added that she is passing my house Wednesday & will have a look if nothing has progressed.

Hope you & your girl are ok, we wouldn't be human if we didn't worry.  I won't stop worrying until a year after these pups are in their forever homes :-)

This question comes up alot, over how many days was she mated as her due date will range from 63 days from first and final tie, that can be quite a time span if you mated her every 48hrs x 3.

How is she in herself?

Is she having an abnormally big or small litter, both can cause primary inertia because the uterus is over stretched in the former and there are not enough hormones triggered by tne pups to start labour in the latter.

Hopefully she has already had her pups or showing signs of getting there.

Glad they arrived safely.  We're still waiting, but she's happy & think it's a small litter, so not too worried for now.  Hopefully we'll have something to report in the next few days!

Thanks, my vet has just left & is very happy to leave her for a few more days.  Have to say, my girl is looking very pleased with herself, must be all the extra food.  Just a waiting game now.

Hope things start happening soon, it is bad enough waiting 9 weeks without them hanging on to them for longer.

Hi, sorry for the delay in responding.  Sadly my bitch had absorbed her pups earlier in pregnancy.  She is very happy, healthy but having a full blown phantom now :-(  Obviously disappointed that there were no pups, but so relieved that our girl is ok (apart from the phantom of course).

So sorry there there was no pups, I know only too well about getting your hopes built up to have them dashed.

I hope you have better success next time.
