My dog has been diagnosed with immune mediated haemolytic anemia. Has anyone got any experience of this and can you offer any helpful advice. My dog is still very pale i don't know what his PCV is, he is eating little and often and is managing gentle exercise. He is quite happy to potter round the garden for a few minutes several times a day and has had one short walk. I am in need of some support please. I have read on the internet that MIlk thistle can help to protect the liver while on steroids but was wondering which are to the best type to get.

I use this on my elderly Bearded Collie who has immune problems and no spleen.

Have used it for years, since it gave me an extra 18 months with my Toy Poodle, who had to be PTS shortly before her 17th birthday.

Customer service from Hilton was second to none.  They even emailed me a list of ingredients to show my vet before I made a decision.

I will always give it to any oldies in the future.

A good over view of the condition with many veterinary links for further reading http://www.labbies.com/aiha.htm

Have you thought of an iron suppliment to make sure his body has everything to make blood cells ? there are a couple of canine ones
http://www.pegasushealth.com/pet-supplements/dog-supplements/Horse_Health_Products_Canine_Red_Cell i tried this one but the amount you have to give is quite a lot and my dog hated the taste.

I prefer this one which needs a much smaller dose http://www.greyhoundmegastore.com/dietary/vetsearch/ironcyclen.html
