Took my bitch to get scanned yesterday ,she would be day 38,scan says no pups but am really not sure .She has just began to put on weight,teats are large and looking a bit pinker,she is starving all the time ,very loving more so than before.had a whiteish discharge last week.This is our first time breeding i have read and reread the book of bitch .Could it just be a phantom or the real thing .

From what I've read on here, she could be phantoming (as these can display all the same symptoms of pregnancy), but if it were me I would treat her as pregnant until she's past her 'due date', just in case.

Thanks for that i'll just have to keep my fingers crossed see what happens .

wd. say at that point definitely no pups.  My girl was scanned on day 28 and pups clearly showing

There where dark things on the scan but vet said it was fecal matter ,i thought it was pups .

I tend to use scanners who do it for a living rather than vets as I have found them to be more accurate.

Can detect scan results better at 31/2 days.

I wait till 39/40 days as one of my bitches has had 4 phantoms and before starting the worming regime/puppy food I confirm the pregnancy, not worried about numbers at that point.

A person that used my dog had her bitch scanned after 28 days and was told no pups. They rang me at 6 weeks and said that they were sure that she was in whelp. They had 4 pups. I think you need to have someone that is good at scanning. My Vet has two people who are good at it.

There was a dog last year, scanned right to 9 wks and said no pups.  I think they had 3
