Topic Dog Boards / Health / GSP Puppy being sick
- By Sarah Carden [gb] Date 30.01.12 15:59 UTC
My six month old GSP puppy has been sick a couple of times each day for a few days. There is no pattern, ie not directly after food, but it is during the day rather than overnight. He is currently on three meals a day of Royal Canin Maxi Junior, no human food as titbits, just proper puppy training treats. He is a bit underweight, vet says he should be a couple of kilos heavier, his brother (not with us) is 5 kilos heavier than him. He occassionally has a breathing/coughing thing that happens when out on a walk, he lowers his head and it sounds like he is trying to bring something up. When this happens his ribs go right out and looks really round, but they don't stay like that.

Does this sound familiar to anyone. I am taking him to his Vet again tonight but was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

Kennel cough is a possibility...

What did the vet say?

I would also get vet to check for kennel cough - but take the pup in at the end of surgery as it is so contagious, and tell the vet it could be that.

Is the pup wormed regularly? I would also be thinking about the possibility of lungworm.
