My black standard Schnauzer has a lumb at the back of his neck. I know Schnauzers get fattly lumps. This for me seems to be were they inserted his I.D. chip. I can not locate the chip I know it is small. Is it possible that the lump has developed around the chip. Should I get this checked out or even removed if it is the chip, Thanks Geordie.
When he was a puppy he is now 4. It is just I can not locate the chip and this is in the spot it was inserted. Could be unrelated. It does not bother him and seems fatty.
I agree that a vet trip is in order. My Bearded Collie had a lump in exactly the same place. But it was not a lump due to a problem inserting the chip. It needed to be removed eventually.
Vet trip definitely (he may want to put a needle in to see what is drawn off.)
I agree you need to visit the vet, but my friends dog has a large pea sized lump that developed round his microchip, causes him no problems at all, but any lumps really should get checked just to be certain.
Has he been playing with any other dogs recently. I have had a haematoma in that area when my lot have been ragging each other. This may be nothing but if you are not sure then Vets definitely.
