Haha, but you can relax now (well as much as possible with a new litter).
Did you have your girl scanned? I did, and was most impressed, the number and the date were exact.
Only thing i need to learn now, is how to take decent puppy photo's to keep the people on my list happy with updates.
I have too many of them bombarding me with emails, enquiring if they can have the only brown! i suppose I need to learn how to deal with demanding clients too ;o)

So glad to hear all is well, you can now relax a bit and enjoy. :)

We did have her scanned and for the first time they got the number of pups correct, we really only have them scanned to confirm pregnancy. I know what you mean about the waiting lists we could have sold this litter three times over, one lady has been waiting since May 2011, sadly for us it seems its the people on the bottom of the list that keep calling and emailing so we are having to let them down for this litter as we have quite a number waiting. As for the photos i would recomend getting a light box, as long as you have a half decent digital camera, they make the pic's look great as you can get the lighting right and take better close up pic's, you can get them off ebay for under £20. Theres not really anything you can do about the demanding client and of course the endless stream of time wasters and people that live in flats and work 18 hour days.

Thanks, but what is a light box? I thought it was one of those things you used to view slides (showing my age)!
I have taken a few photo's that are good enough to put up on my blog, but I do have to take so many just to get one decent one.

All the pups are doing well, and Mum. Today is day 4.5, I am weighing them twice a day, and hoping for the doubling of weight by the eighth day, the smallest is percentage-wise putting on as much as the others, at what stage down the line should I hope for it to catch up in actual weight?

Hope yours all doing well, and you too of course.

Huge congratulations everyone, what a great result!

Glad to hear the pups are finally here and Mum is doing a good job.

I only weigh mine once per day at the same time, you may find the smaller one never catches up with their litter mates but as long as its weight gain is consistent then there is no need to worry.

Thanks. One has doubled in weight just today, so a bit earlier than the 8 days, the others are all on target.
Mum is getting a bit tired of staying with them now, though is still feeding them well.

My girls were happy to stay up in the whelping room for first week then they want to be down with everyone else so I bring her and the pups down during the day in a crate and Mum is happy and settled again, the others can see and sniff but not touch.

By 4 weeks old they are in the puppy pen during the day and Mum can come and go as she wants and the other dachsie will play and teach manners to the pups with Mums blessing.
