Complain to the trainers that it's distracting. If you can't do that or it doesn't work then I think you should smash it. :D :D :D

Have you asked the trainer why the bowl of water is there? It may well be there for a perfectly good reason (can't think of one at the moment though!!)
If it's causing your dog problems then ask for it to be removed - that's certainly more adult than smashing the bowl!!

<<It may well be there for a perfectly good reason (can't think of one at the moment though!!)>>
Fiona, its 'cos of a leaky roof or pipe of course so that the floor would be wet and dangerous if it was not there :D
Distractions when training are good - teaches the dog to pay attention to you rather than what is going on around him/her. If a bowl distracts the dog when at class then put lots of them around you at home, and if you can still work your dog when some have interesting food in them you will know you are getting somewhere
Of course - would be much more fun to smash it providing you don't have to pick up the pieces!

Just remember if they move the bowl you will all have to think of a new excuse why your dog isn't doing the exercises properly :D :D :D

this happened to a friend of mine ,she said nothing for ages and it just festered ! Eventually it got to be too much for her and -she flipped !!
If it really bothers you -do something now before it's too late :D
Failing that --Smash it !! ;) :D

Say Liz, isn't that your 'friend' who is now locked away in an attic for everyone's safety?

:( That's such a sad pathetic example of what comes from bottling stress up inside of oneself :( :(

I agree, I wouldnt bottle it up - I would have to get it out of my system and take action, too much stress can end up front page news:( Julie:)

A few years ago a hall that we were using had 4 strategically placed washing up bowls to catch water leaks from the roof. We used them as training features! I've always maintained everything is a training opportunity!
Interestingly, hall committee finally decided to renovate the hall and guess what happened to the dog club? We were informed that the hall was now too good for dogs and please find an alternative by the end of the month! :(

This thread looked interesting as Morgan was puffing and panting at classes on Monday and thought it might have some good ideas for keeping him comfortable. I click on the link and end up sitting here on my own, laughing my head off with the rest of the people in the house thinking I'm going mad.
I agree, SMASH IT!! (or ask for it to be removed)
:D :D :D

If it is for catching roof water, for goodness' sake ensure there is no asbestos in it

If it is for drinking water, then what's the problem? My dog will often break off from clicker training and grab a drink, it's a well known phenomenon. And if the dogs are workinghard mentally and physically, they may need a drink.
I did wonder if this was a troll post it seemed very odd to me!

Can't see that that is odd at all ! We have a bowl of water at training, but it is at the back of the hall - well away from the training area. Dogs make an awful mess drinking water and the floor is always covered with it. Imagine the mess and the hazard of training dogs around a wet floor. Sounds a perfectly sensible complaint to me :)
