Anyone else finding it freezing, close to the end,  at 25.48, tried going back re-starting but it stops there after the ABS and Bateson section.

No it's been replaced by one that works -I've just watched it in its entirety on Facebook. Wish it was on TV.

Got it just right I think.

No doubt there will be carping remarks all over the internet from people who wanted change......yet feel unable to accept that 'the enemy' may be doing just that.

We shall see if the fight is about personalities and old scores...or about the dogs.

This is already being commented on by people on Ms Harrisons website and the majority are not complimentary.

There will be no pleasing some sectors until we have no more pedigree dogs and just have medium size black or brown bitsas, and others would like to see dogs die out

Jemima's blog says she has seen a few things to make her hyperventilate...maybe she'll realise now how PDE made us feel!! :-(

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet but from the comments, I have to agree :-(

Why do the KC's detractors never wish to acknowledge that health has been a priority for many years among good breeders.

I had my first pedigree dog in 1988, and in that breed Hip scoring among decent breeders was already universal, ditto in 1992 when I came into my current breed the breed clubs developed a Code of Ethics that insisted among other things, that all breeding stock were hip scored and eye tested (the available health screening at the time).

Our breed insisted on a maximum of 4 litters from a bitch and no breeding until age two, that was 20 years ago, long before PDE.

Many are in fact unaware that it was those in Norwegian Elkhounds who first approached the BVA to get eye testing off the ground, when the first evidence of PRA appeared (the breed had some very influential people in it in the past).

In fact in some ways the fact that breeders were very careful and aware of eye issues that we have had so few cases of affected dogs which unfortunately means developing DNA tests becomes difficult if you haven't any affected dogs to study.

I am sure my own breed are not the only ones to act as true custodians of their breeds.  Sadly our efforts are often undermined by the casual, and the mercenary commercial breeders, even in a little known and exploited breed compared to others.

One of the commenters said the video was boring, yes sadly sensational exaggeration makes for exciting TV, isn't seeking exaggeration what we are accused of with our breeds.  Perhaps the same can be said of the harm caused by sensationalist journalism/film making.

Watched it last night, very good I thought - yes we need to keep working at improving health, but we / the KC are trying. If only people would concentrate on puppy farmers not show breeders. Yes some breeds are a bit exaggerated and need more work, but the vast majority of show breeders do care about health, it's the puppy farmers that don't!

I completely agree but I think the sad truth is that a breeder is a breeder in the eyes of most people. Whether you show or not is largely irrelevant, as the general opinion (according to comments in numerous places after PDE) think that all breeders are in it for the money :-(
It doesn't help that a KC 'breeder' can range from large scale commercial breeders, to show breeders to the one off person that just takes a litter from a pet bitch to provide her with company. As far as vets, insurance companies and the man on the street is concerned, a pug (for example) is a pug, and any health issues it has are likely to be as a result of 'bad breeding'. I know of no insurance company or vet who has  asked whether the dog was bred by a working or show enthusiast or whether it is even KC registered! This is a significant problem, especially because these are the sources which will be used to provide data on breed health.

I think to the general public, a breeder is someone who breeds lots of litters commercially, not someone who has 'just one' litter.

As shown by comments on here along the lines of 'I'm not a breeder but.....' by someone who has just bred a litter of puppies.
