Hi, not sure if this is the right section for my question but here goes anyway. I recently re imported my bitch from Sweden and sent off the re import forms (form17) along with health certs for hips, elbows and eyes because it said on the form :

"Please note that the data connected to your dog, including all health screening results submitted with your application will be published and used for registration, research (statistical purposes) and publication in relevant Kennel Club documentation and also included in the Health Test Result Finder and Mate Select calculations."

Her health test results have not been put on her new registration papers, nor are they in the online health test reults finder.

I thought it said documents must be the original but apparently that only applied to the export cert. Too late now as I sent the originals. Anyway the KC say they sent back the health certs on 23rd november and they are still not here so I have to presume they have gone missing in the post.

After phoning the KC today they say that only BVA/KC health results can be published, no foreign ones are included on reg. certs or results finder. I asked them why they ask for them in the first place if they are not going to use them? No help just thats the rules and we cant change them. I plan to breed my bitch soon and have only photcopies of hips, elbows & eyes. They said people can phone them with reg no. and they will tell them she has been tested but not what the results were as they havent kept a copy. So rather than the Grade A hips she has for all they know she could have a terrible score.

I am rather mad as it seems they should not be able to say on the form they will use the results and then refuse to do so. I plan to write to the complaints department as I think this is just wrong and they should not get away with it.

Sorry, rant over! Just wondered if anyone else who has re imported dogs has had this problem and did they find a way around it?

I had a very similar problem with a boy i imported from Germany, his papers were also lost (presumable in the post but who knows) and as his hips and elbows had been graded in Germany the results did not appear on his KC paperwork.

Are you not able to get replacement copies of those certificates just so you have them for your own records?

From memory I know that some DNA tests results are also only accepted by the KC if they are from certain companies.  It must be really very annoying and frustrating as when people can now do a health test pedigree on their website, it will come up that there are no health records for your dog.

Probably can get copies form the Swedish KC but will not be cheap and seems annoying that i will have to pay out when the form promised it would be on reg cert & health finder.

Doesnt help these problems either when prospective puppy buyers search and find no results they will presume the worse.

Mind you, I've tried to get copies of hip scores and eye certificates after we had a lot destroyed in a house fire, and neither the KC nor the BVA could help.    That was 3 years ago, and had to rely on copies from friends who had our pups etc

Hi, just a quick update on things which I meant to do sooner. The Health certs which the KC insisted they posted out to me on 23rd november finally arrived here on the 21st January with a postmark of the 16th January!

No explanation for the delay in posting or apology from the KC. When I have the energy I will write to their complaints department as still dont think its right they say results will be published here and then not do so.

Still I suppose I should be grateful that they turned up before my bitch was mated!
