Any ideas?
My dog (just turned 1) has came out in hives on the inside of his legs(back and front) and on his belly.  He has also got some tiny bald patches too all over which look like I've taken out a tick(about that size).  I feed him raw meat(butchers bags) as when he gets dried food, he gets extremely gassy and gets weepy ears and such but I've not changed anything in that sense.  His bedding is still the same so nothing has really changed round him.  Only thing I can think of is the little one has been leaving some food in her bowl(she gets complete) and he's been having that but it really isn't much at all.  I doubt it is more than a cup full?  I would love thoughts on this as he is starting to look a bit motheaten!

My last dog was allergic to chicken (I discovered this through feeding trial, not via tests), he only needed the tiniest morsel and within 2 hours his ear would be sore, he'd be shaking his head & scratting at it frantically. If he ate more chicken over the next few days, he'd end up with a very nasty ear infection.
If it is a food allergy, then a cup full of food is more than enough to cause a reaction, especially if your dog has been eating it every day.

It does sound like some sort of allergic reaction, it could be food, fleas, insect bite or something else he has come into contact with but I, personally would be very suspicious about the complete being the culprit as you know it allready causes him ear problmes (which indicate a food allergy).

Heres a bit on food allergies that may be of interest.

Sounds like an allergic reaction to me.  If your dates match I'd look to the new food you bought at the supermarket - is this what he's finishing up?

Make sure he can't access this food and try giving Piriton to arrest the itch-scratch-itch cycle.  Try not to introduce anything new for 2 weeks and see if the symptoms subside.

There are environmental allergens at this time of year, including Christmas Trees or seasonal air fresheners indoors, but hopefully it's just the food and will be addressed by removing it from his diet.  Fingers crossed :)
