Our 4 year bitch is coming up to 8 weeks with an unconfirmed pregnancy so could well be a phantom. We have not had her scanned as these have proved unreliable in the past (on another bitch) so now prefer the wait and see method and treat her as if she were pregnant. Plus, she is absolutely terrified of the vets and has to be literally dragged through the door so do not see the need to put her through any unneccessary stress. She has never suffered a phantom pregnancy before. Anyway, her behaviour has been getting more and more erratic over the last 2 weeks or so but today she has started to get really flirty with the dog, pawing at him & trying to mount him and also licking him all over at any opportunity. He was quuite tolerant at first but is now getting a bit fed up, so much so he has started to tell her off. For their own good I have seperated them. She never behaves like this normally and I just wanted to know if this is an example of how a bitch may behave if she is, or believes she is, pregnant. Thank you.

I think it sounds more likely that she has come to the end of a phantom pregnancy.

My bitch did this at the beginning of her pregnancy, for about a week or so. She would wave her bum about and really insisted on it at times! But after about a week or so it went and she was very sleepy for the remainder of the pregnancy, with no flirting or such.
