Hi All,
Our girl has been in season just on 28 days now and is still bleeding, The past few days the bleeding has been a little heavier and today the blood is on the darker side of red not brown. This breed in particlur (speaking to others) tend to ovulate early, We took her to the stud dog on day 4 to see if anything would happen Stud dog very interested but she is maiden (2yrs +) and we only got 2 slips that day, so we too her back on day 10 of her season only to get another slip, we took her again a few days later but the stud was not very interested this time.
Over the 28 days she has been off and on looking fed up and one day clingy and the next wants to be left alone. She has been sick 3 times (2 on day 22 of her season and 1 on the day 27). She has been refusing to eat early morning and this is just not her she eats 2 times each day morning and tea time, only eating late evening for the past 2 weeks, She goes out for her walks fine but returns to her odd self once home.
The other thing not sure if anything but all her nipples are up not massive but they are there she is of the snow dog breed and having a thick double coat you cant usually feel any.
I dont know whether the mating will lead to pups as only slip matings but should she still be bleeding now and if she was pregnant would the bleeding have stopped after the mating or would it continue to the end of her heat cycle anyway. based on the slips she would be between 25 days and 19 days pregnant so I know this would be to early for a scan.
I know she could also be having a phantom
Any advice is greatly apreciated.

Several CD members report bitches bleeding during mating. I certainly have one bitch in particular that carries on bleeding until the end of her season, and still gets pregnant and whelps just fine.
As to her being on day 28 - I had a bitch mated on day 28. Just the one tie. She whelped to that one mating. :-)
Only to add to what JeanSW said. My bitch mated in 2010 bled for ever :-O Well, not quite, but it felt like it. She was mated days 27 through to 31. She'd also been mated around day 18, sort of half heartedly. She produced pups to the later mating. If I'd not also owned her mate I wouldn't have had any idea that she hadn't yet ovulated & we'd have been happily waiting for pups from the first mating to be sadly disappointed.
If you are happy that she is otherwise fit and healthy, possibly she hasn't yet ovulated??
She is still bleeding today (day 29) and there doesnt seem to be any signs of it ending she is bleeding heavier now than over her whole season.
She has eaten this morning and seems better but still looks sad, she picks up when she is given some love and attention.
As she's had 3 slips matings early on and there is a very small possiblity that she may be pregnant so would not take her back to the stud now just incase.
We may just just have to get in touch with someone who can scan her and find out that way as I would rather know one way or another.
What is the longest that she could bleed for? and do other females stop bleeding after mating if there pregnant?
Many thanks for you answers already.

Our bitch has bleed throughout her season and then following her mating she has bled and it she is now on day 37, we had a scan yesterday which confirmed she is in pup - so sometimes you just don't know - on her last season and mating we did exactly the same but she did not continue bleeding and she did not go on to have any puppies
