We have a great 10 month old weimaraner who will be castrated later this week. Generally he is great, he gets on well with my three children and our three cats. The main problem is I am expecting my fourth child this summer (huge shock). We currently cover 3-4 miles a day in walks and i am worried I won't be able to manage. He also chews alot arounfd the home even though we have kongs, bones etc and he is rarely ever left for more than 2 hours. Will he calm down as he gets older or will I collapse from exhaustion first!

I think I may of replied to you on another site.
But you did not mention the biting around the home.
I take it you really find him a handful?
He is only a baby still in his head. An adolesance, well actually you have several months left in adolesance stage. Sorry to say. Castration I dont think will calm him down lots. I know of a Weimaraner castrated and he was still as boistrous as ever. Look get in touch with me personally and I may be able to offer you some advice. You may have a dog that is extra busy in otherwords he has a stronger prey drive than others. This means he will want things to do more so around the house and constructed play. Also he will need to go back into training classes.
Just click on my name and find out my e-mail address.

Thanks fiona, I did not realise that.
To be honest thinking about it now I am
sure I have replied to this question on
the Weimaraner forum, and this guest will
know my address.

Sorry to have to tell you, but castration often delays the growing up, the dog remaining a pup for much longer than normal, particulaly if undertaken before the dog is mature.
