I have a new foster lad causing mayhem :-)

Trekked over to a rescue on wednesday to look at/bring back an elderly dobe girl who hated being in kennels.  Shortly after I left to go see her, a home offer came through for her - but my mobile being busted, I missed the message.

But, I think fate had a hand in it - she was the only dobe in the place, and I only wanted to foster a dobe, but the night before, a dobe X dally came in having been handled badly (good old dominance crap again, do as I say or else - only the 'or else' was on the owner when he got snapped and lunged at, shock horror).  1yr old and a total sweetheart.

He's also huge, all legs and long!  He came as Charlie, but I am now calling him Linc :-)  Very dobe in looks and mannerisms - I reckon he's probably 3/4 dobe at least.  He's got all the tan markings of a dobe, but very dark - you can't see them very well in the pics.  Everyone's getting on with him, they've all let him know what he can and can't do (bit of a humper, but mostly stopped now) and he's a fast learner - got a recall already from nothing before, just got to sure that up and teach him his name.

I think the only real hiccup is the bashing me in the face when I get the lead and harness out (which he bites at) - being so tall he doesn't have to reach to do it!  But he's learning that's not on too.  Just a lovely jelly baby of a dog all round, whoever had him before must have been rough with him for quite some time I think to make him snap.

Well his Christmas has come early, I hope you have a great time with him. Just shows what can be done when you put the work in, shame some of the public can't be educated!
Enjoy and well done you for caring :)

He's lovely! Dobes are gorgeous too, but I must say Dally crosses often seem to be really striking looking. :-)

'Good fun', hmmmm... Giant, untrained puppy... yes, it is fun lol!

So far he's tried to climb into my dinner to nick it, chewed through a lead, tried to chew through another one and his harness and collar, nipped my hand this morning getting a bit overexcited with a fleece tuggy, and put a proper hole in the back of my knee :-o

The hole wasn't done unpleasantly mind - the lack of training and awful handling before just means he's got very little in the way of self control, and he got impatient waiting for me to open the back door so nipped me bloody hard to speed me up, the little sod! :-P
