Topic Dog Boards / Health / Springer x sudden wonky eye??
- By Gemini05 Date 19.12.11 21:49 UTC
Hi, I have not been on CD for a while!
My rescue springer x aged about 8 years has suddenly tonight develop a wonky eye??!
Otherwise healthy, she has tonight got one eye looking in a different direction to her other eye, the same side of her face looks a fraction swollen.
It does not seem to be effecting her, as she can still catch and chase her tennis ball!
Any ideas? I will take her to my vets in the morning if it is still the same.

could be her teeth... an absess could cause swelling so I would visit the vet.. good luck.

Thanks starryeyes, woke up this morning and she is completely fine! No swelling, eye is looking in the correct way! Very strange indeed. I will continue to keep close eye on her, but she seems fine now! Fingers crossed xx

That's good. Maybe she had an insect bite - there's still a few creepy crawlies around at the moment due to the warmer weather than usual.

I must say, if I see a sudden swelling appear on one of my lot, I tend to give them a Piriton just in case it is a reaction to a bite or a sting

Good idea ridgelover, always got some in the cupboard. I first thought she may have had bang to head although not seen anything like that happen, could have been an insect bite too, I am glad she has recovered from what ever it was xx

Unlikely, perhaps, but it could be Horners syndrome. Worth asking the vet if it comes back.

Hi G.Rets, thanks for reply.
I have looked up horners syndrome and some of my springer x symptoms were very similar.
I will keep an eye on her, and if required I will get her to the vets xx
