Hi all, i have been looking through you tube and google to get some ideas but i just woundered if any1 on here has anything they would like to share with me :) relating to what fun and games me and my pup can do together. Something that will get her using her brain aswell as having fun and not loosing interest (and maybe keep her occupied for a bit). We play hide the teddy and we play hiding treats under cups around the house, but she finishes these games in less than 5mins :) Any other fun we could be having ?? :)
Or any cool tricks any1 has learnt with their dogs that they would like to share and explain how they trained it?? ATM she can sit an lie down and paw and beg and roll over and crawl, and now i have run out of ideas of what we could try next (we are still doing our obedience training) but i would like to break up obedience training  now and again to just learn something fun :)
Any suggestions, internet is good but it is better to get advice on here in my opinion :)

Heelwork to music could be a fun thing to try - there are any number of vids on youtube to give you ideas for things to teach.  One of the first things new dogs get taught here is to spin and twirl (left and right circles), then there's weaving through my legs, figure of 8 round both legs, heelwork on both sides, so on and so forth.  There's really no limit to it but what you can come up with.

Or if she's already got a good foundation with the treats under cups, perhaps you could expand on that?  Teach her to find and indicate to a particular scent, whether it's under cups, in boxes, or in the house somewhere.

Could be worth just making a list of tricks to try and working your way through :-)

Thank you :) she is very good at things like that, we have a few better tricks we are working on atm, she seems to take to them but when it comes to putting the command to the trick thats where it ends and she seems to not go any further with it (if you get what i mean) she gets half way through the stages of learning the new thing but i cant seem to get to the end result. Is it just that i could be rushing and to stay on that particular stage of the trick untill she eventually monves on a step?? that is why i have never tried fancy heelwork movements becasue i feel she will just be stuck on the stage of 'luring' her into positions etc for ages haha Am i jus expeting to much and does she actually already do very well at the tricks she noes for a 7month old ?? :)

do u mean hide a particular object or treat and get her to sniff it out and then tell me or show me where it is with a bark or something before she actually takes it??

Some trickes I've taught Buster:

to shut the kitchen cupboard doors/draws,
Through other training he learnt that 'with your nose'/'with your paw' meant he had to touch the object I was pointing at with either his nose or paw, so I just pointed to an open draw/cupboard , said which part he had to touch it with - he touched but did not push, so he got a 'go on' (he knows this to mean, you're onthe right track, try harder), hethne pushed with his nose/paw & hey presto. A dog that will shut the draws/doors for me :-D (also a dog that is so eager to earn a biccy, he has knocked 2 doors off thier hinges by pushing them the wrong way when open )

to 'nod' his head in response to my question "do you love me"
This one took some doing. It was simply a case of asking the question in the same tone, (I also used a hand signal tohelp with consisitency and tonal differences between different people), while moving a treat up & down. The problem I had is Buster is very lazy, he likes to use minimal effort, so to start with he wouldn't move his head,only his eyes up & down with his head kept static. I had to really use exagerated movements to get him to move his head to follow my hand, reward him for that before I could work on him doing the actual movement. End result is very cute though and as I used a hand signal, once he knew what it was all about I can substitute the question for anything (just need the hand signal withit). Visitors have a good laugh asking him things like "do you smell" or " have you farted", to which he will nod his head  :-D

to lick my hand on the comand 'Kisses',
Can't remeber how this was done, I remeebr why it was done - to help give him a better way to interact with his chopsother than nibbling people! (He won't 'kiss' stranergs though!)

This was just a matter of him being a complete pig and very lazy at the same time!!!! He was begging for my left overs and kept 'kissing' (licking) my hand, but he couldn't be bothered to put his tounge out properly so it just happened to be half-hearted 'lick' that sounded like a proper kiss, just to try to get a couple of grains of rice form me. I gave hima single grain of rice for the kissing noise and he hasn't stopped doing it since, LOL (I added the verbal cue, but it isn't 100% yet).

I've just remembered why Buster knew what 'with your paw' and 'with your nose' meant - I used to put 3 pots infront of him, one with a treat hidden underneath. He had to find the treat and tap the pot it was under, either using his paw or nose :)

Thank you mastifflover, such great tricks :) I am going to try all those tricks, especially the 'nod' your head one :) although the kissing sound one sounds quite hard so may leave that one till the end :) she already is good at the treats under pots thing, and uses her paws for apsoluty everything, so i think that one she will take to straight away :)
atm we are learning a trick i have called 'are you ashamed of yourself' (oviously i dont say it in a tone that will make her ashamed), basically end result i want is when i say it to her she goes and hides/burys her head under the rug or a blanket  she has got to the stage where i am at the other end and my hand is under the rug holding a treat, she then bows and burys her head when i say the command and stays there (as treat is grasped tight in my hand) untill treat is given, i have moved onto the stage tht she will do it with no treat in my hand (but hand still under there) and when she has stayed there for a few seconds i then invite her out and give her a treat. But she will not do it with out my hand under there, the best result i have got so far withough my hand is she will give the rug alittle flip with her nose haha so like u said with your dog she also likes to use minimal effect haha

Ahh this sounds sooo cute :)
Sounds like you've got quite far, as long as you're both enjoying it it doesn't really matter if it takes a while :) It's a great way to spend time together, figure out how she works, build trust, bond, give her brain something to do and get in the swing of learning/teaching :)
