How sad for them, never an easy decision. I am sure they will know what is right for their dog.
Thinking of everyone who has poorly dogs or who has lost a beloved friend recently.

How very sad - but the poor dog has to be put first.  Why does everything bad happen at Christmastime?

Thinking of your sister....

Is there some reason why medication cannot be prescribed?

I have a bitch that had seizures, and it is under control with phenobarb.  I regularly have her blood tested to ensure the dose is correct, and she is doing well.

Sorry to here about your sisters dog.  Could you ask about a change in medication to try and some sort of relaxant to help with the distress.  I think I hold off until after christmas if all can cope.
