I know we have done this but my son wants to buy his gf a pair of comfortable fashionableish waterproof boots for dog walking. Gf is getting a rescue soon when the right one comes along and as this is her first venture into dog walking thought this would be a nice prezzie. He has around 100 pounds to spend. Thank you

If he's wanting to spend that much money, I know Hunter Wellies are all the rage just now and you can get the welly liners too to keep her feet warm.  They come in a range of different colours and, I think, patterns.  What a lovely, thoughtful son you have!  :)

I always used to have Hunter wellies and as well as being really comfortable they used to last a long time, but my most recent pair were quite shoddy and didn't last very long at all. I think they have altered the manufacturing process or changed something. I am not impressed :(

They are now made in China .......instead of in Scotland :-( :-( ..........enough said !

These may not be girly enough http://www.scottcountry.co.uk/products_list.asp?categories=519 there are two options that might do the Canazi Pac and the Cimone Pac, I have the Snow Queens which I'd recommend to anybody, they have a higher insulation rate, though not girly at all.

Muck boots come in a range of colours and patterns.  Very comfortable, competely waterproof and keep your feet warm in all weathers.  Although, only those with the same type of sole as the Derwents are good in all ground conditions.  The others are lethal on wet grass/mud/snow.

My Aigle are brilliant, made for being in the fields all day. Neoprene lined, sole is that of a walking boot - love them... Cost me I think £120, i'm sure you can get them cheaper.

Sherwood Forrest boots are good, and not too expensive!

I got a pair of hi-tec st moritz boots a few weeks ago, they look nice and fluffy but kept the liquid cow poop I got dragged through out 100% (first time I wore them too, not looking so fluffy now, lol), the sizes are on the smaller side though

Highly recommend these, bought a pair earlier this year and love them - comfy, warm and lovely to look at!

My last pair of Hunters only lasted a year - was very disappointed by them :-(

Agree and they keep feet really warm, no need for thick socks.

Thanks for your ideas now I am looking at aigles very nice. It seems he was thinking even more fashion like and is seriously looking at some calf length timberlands, leather with furry bits fully waterproof and warm so it says. Quite nice actually
I dont think he feels she yet thinks like we do about the need for a wellie type  well we will see lol
Now all she needs is to find that little pup that needs a new home and not for christmas

I've always harboured a secret desire for leather wellies (apart from the expense) and like the look of The Sherwood Forrest boot, but as I usually walk muddy fields or the beach am yet to be persuaded that they would cope with the salt & mud.

think i have a pair of the lethal ones, shaynlola!

I have a pair of Hunter Crown leather wellies and they are fantastic, I've had them for about 3 years and they take a lot of punishment, I'm notoriously hard on my footwear, peaty mud, brambles and wading streams will put most boots into an early grave, but not these ones, the only draw back is they are really heavy, and I went through hell breaking them in, they're like a big comfy pair of baffies now, but I had blisters a plenty at first.

I'mgoing back for another pair of muckboots. As said before Hunters are rubbish these days but timberland tallboots look amazing I was looking at them for walking around Italy when we go snowboarding in Jan. All the rage but could let water in on the laces. For dog walking would stick to a solid moulded type of boot. But willbe looking at the leather wellies sound like a good idea.

I got some from Cotton Traders were half price two years ago, and still going well.
Like wellies at the bottom with a good deep tread, and faux sued at the top, fleecy lined, so keep my tootsies toasty warm when I am out with the dogs.
They come in a range of colour tops, and they do give a good grip in Ice, Snow or Mud.
Sorry I don't know how to do links,  but if you google Cotton Traders and click on footwear they should come up.

love my hunter sovereigns...best of both worlds
- By LJS Date 15.12.11 07:11 UTC
I have ordered a pair of the Sherwood boots and can't wait for them to arrive as it is lethal under foot because of the mud at the moment and wor my crock boots yesterday and ended up on my back and suffering this morning !

I have a pair of Groundwork boots which sound like a rip of version of muck boots which were £25 from one of the high street shoe shops and this are great very comfy and when they get too dirty just shove them in the washing machine .
- By ChristineW Date 15.12.11 08:27 UTC
I wouldn't recommend wellies for too much dog walking, they have very little foot & ankle support in them.

Have a look on Field & Trek for a good pair of leather walking boots for the money he has to spend he should get a very good pair for her.

I was about to suggest Sherwood Forest boots.  I love them :)
- By LJS Date 16.12.11 08:54 UTC
Mine have just arrived and I am very impressed. Very sturdy and so comfortable. I have just waterproofed them so will wait until they dry off and will test them out later. Excellent value do far.

My Hunters have just given up...so been to Scats and bought a pair of Toggi Berkeley Boots, on offer at the moment £127 I think,  just about to take the dogs out and give them a try....  Definately think long leather boots are the way forward as I've been through many many pairs of wellies:)
- By dorcas0161 [gb] Date 17.12.11 23:07 UTC
Just had an email from Cotton Traders the Faux fur lined boots are on offer till midnight 18th December reduced from £45 to £22.50  Quote promotion code J46A at the checkout.
Not very posh, but if you just want something to keep your feet warm and dry when walking the dogs they are great. Have a really good tread on the bottom, so good in the snow and ice.

Go Outdoors sale starts Boxing Day up to 50% off. On the leaflet it says they have walking boots from £10 and walking trousers from £ 8 probably the cheaper ones won't be up to much, but they did have some quite good brands on offer as well.
- By Lumie [gb] Date 19.12.11 20:12 UTC
Sherwood forest  rosebury wellies reduced from £33 to £13. in a magazine I have received in the post. Blimey how times have changed, bought my first coat ( 13 years) 3 months ago and have increased my jumpers from 0 to four.
