We have an O.E.S bitch rescued in Hong Kong who is now happily resident in the New Forest. Poor girl is getting on a bit (9?+) and the vet says she has a heart murmur and about 18 months to go, if we're lucky. We would like to introduce a playful companion for her and for us. There is 10 acres of garden and 150 sq miles of Forest to enjoy with all the family. We would like contact with breeders or rescuers in the vicinity (or further if necessary) who may be able to help.

Not seeking to be a bit morbid but I suggest you ask you vet whether introducing would not put too much strain on your older dogs heart. You wouldnt want to hasten her to her grave!
Considering the health problems of your older dog, perhaps an adult rescue may be better than a pup, say a 3 to 5 year old! Once you she has gone you would be able to have the fun of a pup to keep the new dog company?
