Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Puppy flea treatment?

Does anyone know of one? I know that washing in washing up liquid kills fleas on the body, but I found a flea bite on my leg today and thought 'Oh great.'. I know my girl had a flea on her about two weeks ago, so I treated both of my dogs with Frontline Combo (I rang the vet first, he said it was fine for lactating bitches), washed all bedding, sheets, etc. I got my boy onto the sofa and flipped him over, and after about fifteen minutes I found nothing on his groin or chest. Finally I checked his inner leg, and sure enough, there was a flea!
Both have been treated again and put in the crate with fresh bedding, old stuff is in the wash as well as the puppies (both beds!). We have leather sofas and hardwood floors all over, so hooving everywhere (including sofas), but is there anything I can do to protect the puppies?

I've checked them and no fleas found so far, but I'm a worrier!

Frontline SPRAY not spot on, is safe for puppies from two days, it is Prescription only.

Oh thank goodness; going to the vet on Tuesday, will pick some up just in case!

Also do the house with Acclaim or equivalent (that kills the fleas in environment and stops them breeding for between 6 and 12 months).

I have never heard of washing up liquid acting as a flea killer!   Can't see how it would work?

On young pups I'd use a flea comb and boiling water.   You dip the fleas caught in the comb in the boiling water ;)

I can do that too Dill, sounds easy enough. My rescue pal in the states told me about the washing up liquid.

Getting a flea spray from the vets too. xxx

I am not a fan of combos I have to admit.

I keep the Frontline in stock (spray only) as something to fall back on.  Although I don't routinely use it (only if needed) it is my favourite because it is ok for pups, and can actually be used on pregnant bitches.

They're used to a stripping knife already so I don't think they'll find it distressing to be honest. I can't believe I didn't know about the spray! I haven't found a flea on any of them and I've been looking all night, but can't be too safe. I'll treat them after their baths on Saturday then. Thanks again everyone. xxx
