Can anyone advise on how to stop my year old GSD spilling her water. We have tried everything, including one of those non-slip dishes.First she dances in it then, she tips it.The other day she had it tipped and spilled in her run before I was even in the house. She does it inside too.She has plenty of toys to play with and she even does it when she plays with her brother.HELP!

The only advice I can give is. Dont ever think of having a Labrador! :)

In my kennel runs I use either a water trough, 3' long....can't move it when its full....or a hook-on manger, designed for horse feed.

I know someone who uses big heavy metal milk pails to water her dogs, quite heavy when full :)

we have a large stainless steel bucket which pub landlords/landladies have for collecting beer dregs its very heavy when full and they can reach it ok..we also have an old tin bath outside which we fill with water but they do tend to sit in it !!!

Hello Guest,

My dog is a very messy drinker, he slurps the water over the far side of his bowl, so half of it lands on the kitchen floor! I now put his china water bowl inside an old washing up bowl, which acts as a giant saucer - no more mess on the floor, at least! :)

When he was a puppy he used to dive into his water with both front feet and splash it around everywhere. This only ceased when we decided to completely ignore such behaviour. He soon realised he wasn't getting any attention and stopped doing it.

The only time Monty puts his feet in his bowl now is when it is empty. He scratches at the bottom ferociously, as if to say "How dare you neglect me, Mum!" ;)

I had a similar problem, we bought a hook on stainless steel bowl and that cured it! :)
