The schedule for National is now up on fosse but what is the 'German Breeds Festival' it is incorporating?

All German breeds will have a German judge. Fantastic!
I'm really looking forward to seeing whether it makes a difference to the normal 'everybody knew he was going to win' system.
It'll also be interesting to see whether they measure the dogs and whether they'll go for the correct type or stick with fashion. I hope they come with their rulers and throw out everything that isn't within breed standard!

It never does in my breed -the conspiracy talk is still the exact same. "So and so will win/won because they know the judge/have imported from the judge/have exported to the judge/have used dog's stud dog abroad/is friends with the judge on Facebook" etc etc.

They will have to judge to our standard and nothing can be thrown out if it happens to be a little too large or too small in this country nothing can be thrown out for a fault. If the dogs are not measured here then they should not be measured.

Last time we employed a German judge the exhibit that won came from Germany and entered with a ATC number - not saying it was not the best there but it seemed a bit odd.

As far as I'm aware it just means that the '27 breeds of german origin' will be judged by German Judges.

But they will be required to judge to the UK standard and our rules.

The German judges at Birmingham for German breeds will judge to Uk breed standard and award CC's
The KC is also allocating one set of CC's to each English Breed to be judged at Dortmund National Show in May ( run back to back with the International Ch Sh )  - this is in addition to the VDH CAC's on offer at the show. This show is also judged to UK standard as all FCI breed standards are from country of origin. The Dortmund judges will all be English for the Native English Breeds.
